CBS Reinstates Sharpe As Court Case Dismissed

A Fulton County Superior Court spokesman informed me today that the woman who initially filed for and was granted a temporary restraining order against Shannon Sharpe, Michele Bundy, has withdrawn the charges she made to obtain the order.

Shannon Sharpe case dismissed

Sharpe is no longer required to appear in court on Sept. 20 and was never arrested or charged with a crime.

With the case dismissed, the DENVER POST reports an acquaintance of Bundy claims she was “infatuated” with the CBS commentator and recently moved to Atlanta “to be close to Shannon Sharpe’s house.” While another said, “everything knows this (the charges that led to the restraining order) is a lie.

Troy Holocker of Denver told the Post:

My first reaction was: ‘Oh, my God, this woman is trying to put the screws to this guy.’ Everyone knows this is a lie. This is what the woman went out to do. To hear this woman drag his name through the mud made me mad.

Thayne Davis of Roxborough, Colo., told the Post:

“She’s been infatuated with Shannon Sharpe for years to the point I think she was kind of stalking him. She moved to Georgia to be closer to him. She has some insane idea in her head that he’s going to be in a relationship with her.”

More from the Post on Davis and Bundy:

Davis and his wife recently allowed Bundy and her daughter to live in their Roxborough home for a few months. However, Davis said Bundy had overstayed her welcome at their home and was ordered to leave in late-June.

“We had to get the police to escort her out,” Davis said. “She was fabricating stories against me too.”

Davis said Bundy had lived in Denver for several years, including a stretch when she worked for a television station. Bundy met Sharpe, Davis said, during a time when she was granted media credentials to the Broncos’ games and locker room at designated interview times. Davis said he occasionally accompanied Bundy as a photographer.

Bundy lived in New York for about five years, Davis said, then returned this year to the Denver area before recently moving to the Atlanta area.

“She sold everything she had, bought an RV and moved out to be close to Shannon Sharpe’s house,” Davis said.

The Post did not make clear what Bundy’s relationship was to Davis or Holocker.

Sources tell me that Bundy initially moved from Denver to New York to work for IMG and later ESPN on website projects. She no longer works for either company. She was also an aspiring actress, appearing in small film projects.

Sharpe, a former NFL star and current candidate for the pro football Hall of Fame, had previously taken a leave of absence from CBS’ NFL Today show to deal with the legal matter involving Bundy.

With the news of the case dismissal, CBS has reinstated Shannon Sharpe to its NFL Today program effectively immediately.

Through CBS, Shannon Sharpe said:

I had every expectation that based on truth alone these claims would never reach a court. This issue was dismissed in its totality and no monies and no communications were exchanged. Now I look forward to getting to work.

CBS Sports Senior Vice President of Communications LeslieAnne Wade added on behalf of the network:

“We are pleased that Shannon will be in his usual position with theĀ  NFL Today on Sunday.”
