Will Vikings’ Punter Change Name To ‘Warcraft?’

We all thought Chad Johnson was crazy when he changed his name to Ocho Cinco. We thought Greg White was weird and a little obsessed with “Teen Wolf” when he changed his name to Stylez G. White. But those are large, strong men, who we would never dare make fun of to their face. But what if you met a punter named World of Warcraft?

Warcraft Jersey

That’s Chris Kluwe of the Vikings, who’s either the biggest video game nerd in the world, or the shrewdest businessman in the world. Can you imagine how many people would buy an officially licensed jersey with “Warcraft” on the back? On the other hand, there might be a few extra “running into the kicker” penalties next year. Chris Kluwe is stupid like a fox, after the jump.

Kluwe is into video games. Like, really into video games. He’s beaten the Guinness World Record holder at Guitar Hero.

“I’ve played video games since I was 4 years old,” he says. “I play them a lot more than I kick a football. I kick the ball about 45 minutes a day. I play video games about five or six hours a day.”

So with that much gaming on his mind, it’s no wonder he talks more about video games than football on his weekly radio show.

I told the guys at 93X that I was going to change my name to Chris ‘World of Warcraft’ ” Kluwe said. “They said that’s too long. So they started calling me Chris ‘Warcraft.’ I could make a lot of money if I changed my name to that.”

I don’t think I’d be caught dead in a Warcraft jersey. But it could be worse.

Leave it to a punter to change his name after a video game.

Is Mitch Berger still playing? He can also change his name to a video game and call himself Mitch Berger Time.

Im an avid listner of said radio program and everyone I know that listens to the program already calls him Chris Warcraft. So a legal name change wouldn't mean much to us here in Minnesota.

If the Ultimate Warrior can legally change his name from Jim Hellwig to WARRIOR, why not?

As long as Chris doesn't start spouting off about how 'queering don't make the world work'.

Could World of Warcraft sue Chris Kluwe for copyright infringement? Or demand royalties?

I could see 'WarCraft' jerseys selling well here in MN, i used to play while listening to a few of the earlier season games when T-Jack was QB the first time around. If i ever get his autograph i'll see if he can sign it Chris Warcraft lol.
