Wayne Gretzky Somehow Still Gainfully Employed

In case you didn’t know (and it’s a good bet you don’t), hockey legend Wayne Gretzky just notched his 100th win as coach.

Wayne Gretzky coach Phoenix Coyotes

The CANADIAN PRESS reports that the Great One reached the century mark Monday night when his Phoenix Coyotes beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-0. But Gretzky really doesn’t have much to be happy about these days.

First off, Gretzky hit 100 losses as a coach some time ago (he has 110 coaching losses overall). And Gretzky is understandably more concerned about the Coyotes’ playoff wavering chances, so he shrugged off the milestone by saying, “I don’t really worry about that kind of stuff.”

Most fans might be surprised that Gretzky has been coaching long enough to reach 100 wins. Then again, most fans might be surprised that Gretzky is even coaching.

That’s what happens when your league chooses to broadcast on Versus instead of ESPN.
