Wake Forest Bedevils Duke In Sunday Night Upset

Duke fell from the ranks of the ACC unbeaten Sunday night, as Wake Forest upset the #2 Blue Devils 86-73 in Winston-Salem.

Wake Forest Beats Duke

The Demon Deacons were helped by freshman phenoms Jeff Teague (26 pts) & James Johnson (24 pts), while the Dookies didn’t help themselves by committing 22 turnovers (a season high) and going 7 minutes in the 2nd half without a field goal - missing 11 consecutive shots during the drought.

The loss snapped a 12-game winning streak for the Blue Devils, whose only loss before Sunday was a one-point defeat to Pittsburgh. It was also the first win for Wake Forest over Duke since 2005.

And it was the first big victory for coach Dino Gaudio, who took over for Wake Forest when Skip Prosser suddenly died on July 26 from an apparent heart attack. But we bet somewhere, Prosser is skipping merrily along from news of Wake’s win.
