Seth Davis of CBS reports today via Twitter that Tennessee hoops coach Bruce Pearl is seriously considering playing “some” of the players who were arrested on drugs, alcohol and weapons charges yesterday as early as the team’s next game on Wednesday:
According to the Knoxville Police Dept. news release/police report on the matter, two of the four players arrested, Tyler Smith and Brian Williams, actually may be charged with felony gun possession.
Incidentally Pearl has officially suspended the four players - for now.
UPDATE (2:57p ET): Davis adds via Twitter: “To be clear, Bruce was not downplaying the charges AT ALL, just clarifying they weren’t felonies. He doesn’t have all the info he needs yet.“

You cannot have players driving around with guns. Period. Bye bye.

Pearl is an idiot. Gun charges are misdemeanors? - thanks for sharing that dumb@ss. If he were coaching a high school team you know all he could be teaching would be driver’s ed (start the Mechanized Death movie and sit in the back and look at p*rn mags).

What do you expect from a guy who paints himself orange and acts like he is still in school himself?
But hey, they were only driving around with guns, booze and drugs in the car. Not like they were doing anything wrong . . .
Face it, Pearl would let Hitler play if he could shoot the three ball.
This guy really is an idiot.

Pearl is a good coach, but he needs to get serious. Brady Morningstar was suspended for a whole semester for a DUI and an idiot Kansas City radio announcer wanted him suspended for the whole year. I’d rather they get to play for a competitive game, but come on.
