Und beinahe hätten die bösen Ärzte ihn ermorden lassen!
Aber Mami hat gekämpft, und heute ist ihr Timmi groß und stark und gesund und ein Star geworden!
Wie schön.
Wäre aber kaum werbewirksam, wenn der Sohn Crack rauchen, Frauen auf den Strich schicken würde oder ein Serienkiller geworden wäre, was genauso im Bereich des Möglichen gelegen hätte.
Das wäre doch wirklich cool, Mami Bundy kommt mit einem Foto ins Bild und sagt:… und fast hätte ich Ted abgetrieben, aber ich habe gekämpft und mein Sohn,… äääh, naja, da kommt man doch ins Grübeln, gell?

I have yet to see anything in this story that convinces me of a CBS double standard. What I see is that Focus on the Family played by CBS’ rules and other groups didn’t. They got their ad approved by diluting their message so much it was almost unrecognizable. With the exception of the URL at the end, the ad could have been from the American Cancer Society or the American Disability Association. “Celebrate Life” is the motto of a lot of groups whose lives are threatened by all kinds of dangers.

Without seeing the rejected ads, we can’t know, but it’s not hard to believe that MoveOn.org would make an ad that ACTUALLY SAID SOMETHING. Instead, Focus on the Family makes an ad so completely generic that there’s nothing left to criticize (Are you going to say “family” is bad?) and the ad gets through. Then they rely entirely on the ensuing media storm to get their brand recognition and a public discussion of their ideals.

They read the rules, played the game, and played it well. And you can all pat yourselves on the back for helping them.

Brooks is on to something. The liberal media won’t own up to it, but CBS has a double standard when it comes to Super Bowl advertisers.

Focus on the Family … Christian fundamentalist … good

Remember that the next time the liberal media report a puff piece about any right-wing demagogue.
