KCBD-TV in Lubbock has video of the “shed” and “electrical closet” where Adam James was held at Mike Leach’s direction during Texas Tech practices two weeks ago.
The shed actually looks to be a modern equipment garage replete with ice maker and ventilation. (And it’s December.) The “electrical closet“? Actually a room where media conducts interviews with players in front of an AT&T advertising banner.
Leach attorney Ted Liggett also said in KCBD’s piece that the story about Leach being cleared if he signed a written apology was untrue and that James’ attending doctor was on the record stating that Leach’s treatment did the player no harm.
After watching that video and hearing addition details of the case from Leach’s attorney, it’s hard to imagine the coach getting fired for cause because of that. What may end up happening, in my opinion, is AD Gerald Myers tries to build a case against Leach that features past, alleged improper behavior to justify the coach’s ouster.
The hearing for Leach’s coaching status is this morning in Lubbock so we’ll know more shortly.
