After releasing a YouTube video and making statements through lawyers, Roger Clemens finally met with the media to discuss accusations of his steroids use.
The Rocket held a press conference Monday to talk about Brian McNamee and his allegations of shooting up the baseball star with illegal drugs. Clemens even took time to play an audiotape of the phone call he had with McNamee on Friday. And Roger had some angry words for his ex-trainer.
Clemens warned, “I would love for him to come down here. I would be afraid for him, because my family’s very upset, and like I said, I’m trying to keep my composure together through all this.”
Roger also touched on other players who would use steroids: “I think they do it to look good in the lobby, in their three-piece suit. I don’t think it helps you hit the baseball, run faster, whatever, and all that combined. I think it hurts your body.”

When asked if he thought such players were cheaters, Roger responded that he’s “not passing judgment” on anyone else, especially on his friend Andy Pettitte.
Clemens even meddled with the media during his speech, taking a bottled water and asking if he could take a drink - “Is that good or bad?”
By the end of the conference, Clemens’ composure was starting to crack, when he went off on what he called an “asinine” question about his Hall of Fame chances:

“You think I played my career because I’m worried about the damn Hall of Fame? I could give a rat’s ass about that also. If you have a vote, and it’s because of this - you keep your vote. I don’t need the Hall of Fame to justify that I put my butt on the line and I worked my tail off.
“And I defy anybody to say I did it by cheating or taking any short cuts.”
Clemens finished by declaring, “I’ve said enough“, and stormed off from the podium.
