That is a not a recommended exercise. Do regular squats. If you want a good stabilizing exercise, lift something heavy over your head and walk around until you’re pooped.

“That is a not a recommended exercise. Do regular squats.”

Recommended for world class athletes, not chumps like us…

Doing walking lunges with a barbell on your shoulder is a perfect way to blow out your knee. I know, because I did it. My doctor was the same guy who did Tom Brady’s knee last year and he said they see that all the time from people trying to do that specific exercise.

yeah everything I hear that the window for error in squats is tiny. Just doesn’t seem like a worthwhile exercise for us plebs. Seems like there are better ways

    Free squats are brutal.

If you have to do them, hack squats at least are much safer. But still murder on the knees.

Stafon Johnson just told me that squats on an inflatable inside a rack like that is INSANE.

By the way, I don’t know if you guys notice but this is not 45 pound plates on a 45 pound bar.

If you look closely, those are 55 kg plates which corresponds to a 70 kg bar. Do some math - that’s 396 lbs!!!

Yeah, those lunges scare me. That’s a world class athlete. DO NOT try this at home!

I’m all about squats (best exercise on earth), but those weren’t real deep. I’m not gonna argue with success, though. And by success, I mean she has world class hindquarters.

Unimpressed. There is no weight on the bar. Look at the guy grab it from her when she loses control. Bosu ball squats aren’t that hard in the first place and she isn’t even going down to parallel. What she does going down the mountain is more impressive and taxing. Maybe to the couch potatoes this is something, but to a weekend warrier not so much.

Then knock yourself out there, Weekend Warrior. Be sure to report back to us all after you’ve visited the orthopedist and let us know how much your surgery is going to run you.

One of the biggest myths out there is that squats are bad for your knees. Squats done WRONG are bad for your knees…just like ANY exercise done wrong can be harmful.

Yes. Any exercise in the gym done incorrectly will injure you. I don’t feel the need or have the desire to squat or do walking lunges with enormous amounts of weight on my shoulders with perfect form every time and risk ending up with chronic sore knees and being unable to walk when I am 65. Anyhoo, the video is pretty cool.

    joel -
Eleiko white plates are 5 kg. She is also possibly using a technique bar which is only 10 kg. She isn’t even sweating so they probably didn’t show her actual workout.
