fedor is the most overrated fighter in the world. hasnt fought someone who was world top 10 at the time in over 5 years, and eternity in mma.

obviously has no interest whatsoever in testing himself against the best in the world...

Diaz Malignaggi - the first one went as well as the Rua Machida fight as far as the judges are concerned

Vasquez Marquez IV - i don't want to see it happen not because it won't be a great fight (the first 3 were tremendous) but because i do not want to see them permenantly damage or kill one another, although if they did fight i'm sure it would be great.

In the end arguing is pointless i'll still watch both but in my opinion i think the UFC needs to employ pride's tactics and penalize people for not attempting to win a fight thru submission or ko but merely spoon them (see all Fitch's fights)

yeah daiz malignaggi II. how'd that first one go. oh right, complete robbery. you admit you don't even want to see vasquez-marquez IV. ufc 100 did 1.5 mill in buys. i just don't see your argument coming together man.

i'm a hardcore mma fan. i'm a hardcore sports fan in general. i admit there is a segment of the mma hardcore crowd that is insufferably annoying. however, mma novices who make judgments on the sport's validity without really knowing a damn thing about it are far more annoying. i used to be one of them.

after getting into it, and training in it a little bit myself, a fight that goes to the ground involving two guys fighting for position and dominance is just as exciting as a stand-up fight. understanding things like how a stand-up fighter strategizes and employs that strategy against an expert wrestler or a jiu-jitsu black belt is pretty important to realizing just how great the sport is.

PBF v JMM - over 1 million pay per view buys speaks loud and clear for boxing

Marquee fights to watch in the future:

Vasquez - Marquez IV (although i hope it doesn't happen)

Super Middle Weight tourney - first round went pretty well, lets go ward (oaktown) over kessler

Diaz - Malignaggi II

Just to name a few, but of course these will not be as big as any event PBF or Pacman bring but lets be honest how many marquee fights does the UFC have that even remotely come close to a PBF fight?

Well I'll recant a few of my opinions seeing as Bridge has reminded me I don't have to go to war with all MMA fans hehe. Hmm...how do I put this? I respect the athleticism, I respect the talent and years of training these guys put in, and I know there have been and will continue to be some really great fights.

With that said, I just don't get the attitude hardcore MMA fans always seem they have to have. I get the feeling a lot of these guys are not sports fans, they're fight fans. Which is fine, but there is a sort of strange rift between people who just want to fight or see fights and follow that one sport and people who are actually like a lot sports for what they are. Luckily, someone like Bridge comes and posts here and shows you can be serious about MMA and still be in touch with other sports as well as have a cool head and make a lot of sense.

first off, fedor didn't sign with the ufc because he doesn't want to have to prove he's the best in the world. they offered him more money than strikeforce, and the opportunity to prove he's the best against the best. he ran to a promotion that's going to be out of business in the next two years.

second, seeing how much trouble fedor had keeping rogers (who doesn't have much of a ground game to speak of at all), really exposes how much of an underdog he is against an even bigger and very accomplished wrestler in brock lesnar. if that fight ever happens, and it goes to the ground, lesnar is a distinct favorite.

third, boxing is going downhill. it sucks, because i love boxing. just be honest, the vast majority of athletes getting into combat sports now are getting into mma. boxing is losing its future talent pool at a rapid rate. by the way, after mayweather eventually fights manny, what's the next big marquee fight in boxing? anyone? i can't think of one.

I agree with you 100% you know who, i myself watch both boxing and MMA (ive seen all of the pride, UFC, WEC Strikeforce, etc.) events and it's gotten terrible. Pride was far superior to UFC (yes i know the pride fighters except fedor are now in the UFC) but with all of athletic state commission rules wont let you do some of the things you could in pride but in the end there are wayyyyyy more spooner's in the ufc then the sport needs and its boring to watch. The only good thing is that i have 3 tv's in my living room so i can watch boxing mma and college football at the same time to make mma more entertaining.

Also to say that boxing is going downhill is a joke, the 2nd greatest fighter in the world (fedor is number 1) pretty boy floyd made more money then all of the ufc fighters will make all year in his fight vs jmm, not only that if pacman can make it thru cotto he will make even more money fighting pacman

final point to say dont comment on a sport you know nothing about is idiotic. i for one love brooks because like saturday when i couldnt watch the fight till they replayed it (im on the west) i got to see it on brooks first
