Video: Fedor Knocks Out Rogers In Second Round

Fedor Emelianenko knocked out Brett Rogers tonight in the second round of their MMA fight in Chicago:

Fedor Knocks Out Rogers Video

AOL’s Michael David Smith:

Rogers connected with Fedor early and made him bleed from the nose, and he more than acquitted himself in the fight, getting control of Fedor on the ground and looking better against Fedor than any opponent has in the last few years.

But there’s only one Fedor, and in the second round, he showed why he’s the greatest ever, leveling Rogers with a brutal right hand and then a couple more punches on the ground before referee Big John McCarthy stepped in to save Rogers.

Fedor vs. Lesnar? It’s out there. Will happen eventually regardless of the faux hurdles thrown up by MMA media observers. Too much money to eventually be made.

    Great fights, great FREE card
Take note Dana, we’re getting REALLY sick of paying every month to see your medeocre matchups.
    ps
That Fedor shot would have killed me and most of my family………..brutal

The audience members behind rogers were all hospitalized from injury believed to be the direct cause of the Fedors punch.

Fedor - Lesnar will never happen….

unlike boxing, mma isn’t all about money, mostly about money for sure, but not all about, Fedor doesn’t need to fight Lesnar, Lesnar would have to get away from the UFC to even fight Fedor, Dana and M-1 can’t work together, Lesnar has mono and who knows what he’s like if/when he comes back, Fedor has at least 2 fights before he could think about signing with the UFC, which he will never do anyways, etc…

would be awesome but M-1 Global keeps the best from fighting the best, instead we have the GOAT fighting borderline chumps…

the only HW matchup that would be legit is Lesnar-Fedor and its a shame we’ll never see it

Forgot to mention, what the f*** are Faux hurdles?

like co-promotion, which would kill the UFC’s business model so they will NEVER do it (again, tried with PRIDE but that’s because they were #2, when you’re #1 you don’t co-promote)…

Brooks, learn about sports before posting about them, you’re smart, spend a week learning the history of mma and what its all about, then learn how the sport actually works from a business standpoint

BROOKS should either educate himself about the sport of MMA before spewing his mindless uneducated dribble, OR hire someone who actually knows what they are talking about to write about MMA

to make the comment now about Fedor against Lesnar is ludicrous…there probably only a 5% chance of it ever happening, and if so it will not be for at least a few years to come, and at that point there wont be the same appeal as there is now

Lesnar has enough to worry about in the UFC with Carwin, Velasquez, Dos Santos

not to mention the past title holders

Fedor is the Dark Emperor. He is a beast, and the great p4p there is. Lesnar came into the UFC in a time where there was a vacuum in the HW division. He is huge, and obviously a good wrestler, but to compare him to Fedor, a proven fighter, is beyond silly

Lol, MMA people. You make me laugh. You know nothing about the greats of boxing–hell, none of you even like the sport of boxing. I mean why is boxing (aside from Don King, just the sport itself) so far removed from the competitive interest of the MMA community? It’s such a fad it’s not even funny. Why? Because anyone who’s big into MMA, that’s the only sport they’re big into. You hardly know anything deep about college or professional sports…all you do is glue your face to the screen when these guys are up for 2 minutes and on the ground for the next 8 with one guys head in the other’s crotch. Ground and pound? Are you kidding me? It’s so agonizingly boring and you have to watch 10 fights to see one decent takedown. Round after round they’re huffing and puffing lying on top of each other with a jab here and there. It’s a joke. The sport is a joke. Ye, I know–you don’t like it, don’t watch it. No problem, I don’t. I’m commenting on a sports blog I like to read.

Lol, and I love the fucking psycho rage WHAT TEH FUCK BROOKS ILL FUCKING KILL YOU LEARN 2 MMA BEFORE U FUCKING TYPE. Right… you guys need to lay off that test you buy in bulk online.

MMA sucks. UFC sucks. Tapout sucks. Affliction sucks.

So ye…LET THE FLAMING BEGIN BITCHES.

and to generalize and say that mma fans know nothing about anything else is rediculous

i normally dont comment about boxing because i particularly dont like the sport and dont watch it myself, which is why i dont comment on it

i like the fact that mma has become popular enough to be talked about, but it is still foreign to alot of sports fans who dont understand the sport, therefore should not comment on it (brooks)…

I agree with you 100% you know who, i myself watch both boxing and MMA (ive seen all of the pride, UFC, WEC Strikeforce, etc.) events and it’s gotten terrible. Pride was far superior to UFC (yes i know the pride fighters except fedor are now in the UFC) but with all of athletic state commission rules wont let you do some of the things you could in pride but in the end there are wayyyyyy more spooner’s in the ufc then the sport needs and its boring to watch. The only good thing is that i have 3 tv’s in my living room so i can watch boxing mma and college football at the same time to make mma more entertaining.

Also to say that boxing is going downhill is a joke, the 2nd greatest fighter in the world (fedor is number 1) pretty boy floyd made more money then all of the ufc fighters will make all year in his fight vs jmm, not only that if pacman can make it thru cotto he will make even more money fighting pacman

final point to say dont comment on a sport you know nothing about is idiotic. i for one love brooks because like saturday when i couldnt watch the fight till they replayed it (im on the west) i got to see it on brooks first

first off, fedor didn’t sign with the ufc because he doesn’t want to have to prove he’s the best in the world. they offered him more money than strikeforce, and the opportunity to prove he’s the best against the best. he ran to a promotion that’s going to be out of business in the next two years.

second, seeing how much trouble fedor had keeping rogers (who doesn’t have much of a ground game to speak of at all), really exposes how much of an underdog he is against an even bigger and very accomplished wrestler in brock lesnar. if that fight ever happens, and it goes to the ground, lesnar is a distinct favorite.

third, boxing is going downhill. it sucks, because i love boxing. just be honest, the vast majority of athletes getting into combat sports now are getting into mma. boxing is losing its future talent pool at a rapid rate. by the way, after mayweather eventually fights manny, what’s the next big marquee fight in boxing? anyone? i can’t think of one.

Well I’ll recant a few of my opinions seeing as Bridge has reminded me I don’t have to go to war with all MMA fans hehe. Hmm…how do I put this? I respect the athleticism, I respect the talent and years of training these guys put in, and I know there have been and will continue to be some really great fights.

With that said, I just don’t get the attitude hardcore MMA fans always seem they have to have. I get the feeling a lot of these guys are not sports fans, they’re fight fans. Which is fine, but there is a sort of strange rift between people who just want to fight or see fights and follow that one sport and people who are actually like a lot sports for what they are. Luckily, someone like Bridge comes and posts here and shows you can be serious about MMA and still be in touch with other sports as well as have a cool head and make a lot of sense.

PBF v JMM - over 1 million pay per view buys speaks loud and clear for boxing

Marquee fights to watch in the future:

Vasquez - Marquez IV (although i hope it doesn’t happen)

Super Middle Weight tourney - first round went pretty well, lets go ward (oaktown) over kessler

    Diaz - Malignaggi II

Just to name a few, but of course these will not be as big as any event PBF or Pacman bring but lets be honest how many marquee fights does the UFC have that even remotely come close to a PBF fight?

  24. Gravatargreenwall
    3:28 pm on November 9th, 2009

yeah daiz malignaggi II. how’d that first one go. oh right, complete robbery. you admit you don’t even want to see vasquez-marquez IV. ufc 100 did 1.5 mill in buys. i just don’t see your argument coming together man.

i’m a hardcore mma fan. i’m a hardcore sports fan in general. i admit there is a segment of the mma hardcore crowd that is insufferably annoying. however, mma novices who make judgments on the sport’s validity without really knowing a damn thing about it are far more annoying. i used to be one of them.

after getting into it, and training in it a little bit myself, a fight that goes to the ground involving two guys fighting for position and dominance is just as exciting as a stand-up fight. understanding things like how a stand-up fighter strategizes and employs that strategy against an expert wrestler or a jiu-jitsu black belt is pretty important to realizing just how great the sport is.

Diaz Malignaggi - the first one went as well as the Rua Machida fight as far as the judges are concerned

Vasquez Marquez IV - i don’t want to see it happen not because it won’t be a great fight (the first 3 were tremendous) but because i do not want to see them permenantly damage or kill one another, although if they did fight i’m sure it would be great.

In the end arguing is pointless i’ll still watch both but in my opinion i think the UFC needs to employ pride’s tactics and penalize people for not attempting to win a fight thru submission or ko but merely spoon them (see all Fitch’s fights)

fedor is the most overrated fighter in the world. hasnt fought someone who was world top 10 at the time in over 5 years, and eternity in mma.

obviously has no interest whatsoever in testing himself against the best in the world…
