THE NEW YORK SUN informs us that Chinese officials are keeping a close eye on their carrots, peppers and tomatoes and are also keeping the whereabouts of their pork under wraps in order to ease fears of steroid content in their food.
The report says, “Chinese Olympic officials reacted angrily to announcements from Olympic teams in America, Australia, and elsewhere that they planned to bring at least some food supplies to Beijing because of concerns about hormones and drugs in Chinese-grown food. American officials said some food samples taken in China had so much steroid content that athletes would have failed drug tests.”
Guarding vegetables, hiding pork seems like a lot of effort just to prove your food isn’t on steroids. Roger Clemens, however, is not impressed.
