Urban Meyer officially announced this afternoon that Florida Gators defensive end Carlos Dunlap has been suspended for the team’s game against Alabama on Saturday. Dunlap was arrested for DUI this morning, as officers found him asleep at the wheel at a traffic light.
Justin Trattou will start at defensive end, with Jaye Howard backing up.
I’m pleasantly surprised Meyer didn’t fiddle around on this one. His poor handling of the Brandon Spikes one-half suspension most like made him a lot more conservative in this case. That said, with the Gators on the brink of their first-ever undefeated season, it had to be a gut-wrenching decision.
