Reports: Stanford’s Johnson To Take Over @ LSU

Now that the Lopez Twins are leaving The Farm, Stanford coach Trent Johnson apparenty saw no further reason to stick around.

Jon Wilner of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS reports that Johnson has accepted the head coaching job at LSU. The news comes from a report by KADN-TV that Trent is apparently Bayou bound.

Wilner speculates that delays in getting a contract extension with Stanford helped convince Johnson to take off for the Tigers, who’ve been without a permanent head coach since John Brady was fired back on February 8th.

FOXSPORTS.COM follows up that a news conference about LSU’s new hire is expected for Thursday.

With this latest defection from the men’s team, and the loss last night in the women’s national championship, it’s not shaping up to be a good week for Stanford basketball.

We wonder if Mike Montgomery is starting to have second thoughts.
