Tommy Lasorda was back in the Dodgers dugout on Tuesday. Two innings later, he was back out.
(Looks like someone stopped taking their Slim Fast)
The LOS ANGELES TIMES reports on the Hall of Famer managing the Blue Crew for the first time in 12 years, while regular boss Joe Torre takes a trip to China. And it wouldn’t be a Tommy Lasorda game without Tommy arguing with the umps.
During the 2nd inning of the Dodgers’ game with the Marlins, James Loney was called out by umpire Damien Beal. Once the Vero Beach crowd started booing, out came Tommy, tumbling from the dugout to go face to face with Beal.
After a short time shouting & growling, a “grinning” Lasorda was pointed back to the dugout, as the fans in the stands ate it all up (much like Tommy does at dinner).
But Lasorda knew it was all fun for the fans, saying, “They’ve always liked that when I’d go out and start arguing. Put on a little show.”
At least Tommy is finding more family-friendly ways to entertain himself. But now that he’s spending time in Florida, Lasorda should take care not to pull a Dick Williams - especially out in public.

A trained monkey would cost less and be just as entertaining, but Plaschke’s too old to learn how to fellate a monkey.

“They’re closing the hot dog stand! Stop ‘em, ump!”
