Lasorda To Chat With College Grads For 8th Time

This Friday, Tommy Lasorda will be telling young graduates to go forth, as he’s scheduled to give the commencement address for Argosy University. It’ll be the 8th school he’s given the farewell speech to.

Not bad for a guy “who never attended a single day of college as a student.”

So, what exactly is Argosy University? And will Florida State schedule them for next season?

According to the Dodgers’ press release, the college was formed in September 2001 by the merging of the American School of Professional Psychology, the University of Sarasota & the Medical Institute of Minnesota. Argosy “today comprises four colleges within 18 campus locations across the U.S., and also offers degree programs online through the Chicago campus.”

So, we guess it’s like the DeVry for shrinks.

Argosy joins the lucky list of Lasorda-commenced institutions, which include Pepperdine, Hawaii, Long Beach State, St. Thomas, University of Phoenix, Concordia and USC’s School of Pharmacy - where Tommy received the Commencement Speaker Recognition Award, along with a roll of Tums.

The graduation will take place at 11 a.m. at the Costa Mesa Hilton. After the ceremony, we’re sure Tommy will have no problem finding something to do in his hotel room.
