CAREFUL WHAT CARSON WISHES FOR: The DAYTON DAILY NEWS had the cute idea of having members of the Cincinnati Bengals make out Christmas gift wish-lists. But what started out as a holiday puff piece may have uncovered clues to Carson Palmer’s midseason mediocrity.
Topping the fantasy under-the-tree spree of Carson Palmer: Kevin Federline’s rancid rap CD. The album, “Playing With Fire,” was sent to stores the week of Oct. 31.
The Bengals promptly lost three straight games (with Palmer intercepted five times) after the CD was unleashed on the unsuspecting public, and more specifically, the Bengals QB.
With that in mind, an earpiece embargo imposed by coach Marvin Lewis on his signal caller may well explain Palmer and the team’s subsequent turnaround.
