Turns out Terrell Owens is now in the third year of his three-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys. So, when should we expect to hear the receiver start railing for a raise or extension?
Actually, it might be a while. Right now, he says it’s “not a problem“.
The media was invited to Cowboys camp for this first time on Wednesday. And T.O. told the flummoxed fourth estate that he’s not worried about his expiring contract:
“Not a problem. Honestly, I don’t really feel like it’s hanging over my head. I just don’t really think about it. I haven’t thought about it until somebody brought it up.”I’m not naive to the point of not realizing what type of contract that I signed. It was a three-year deal and I know I’m in my third year. It’s a no-brainer. I know what’s going on.”
Owens is certainly more easy going about money matters than he was with the Eagles back in 2004, when contract complaints resulted in push-ups on the driveway & Terrell’s eventual flight from Philly.
So, why the lack of lashing out? Teammate (and still Jessica Simpson’s boyfriend as of this writing) Tony Romo believes Terrell is a changed man:
“I think you are seeing a change in a guy, a transformation that has taken place over the last four or five years. We’re pretty lucky to have it happen here. I enjoy the guy. He’s a good teammate. He actually cares about each one of us. He cares about getting better.”
If only the same caring was still there between Tony & Jess. Or maybe it still is. Oh, TMZ, where are you now, when we need the latest dish on this punctured Romo-ance?
Anyway, back to Terrell’s sunny deposition. We think he’s still enjoying the afterglow of his big sitcom debut, thanks to Flavor Flav. Maybe he’s ready to follow in the footsteps of fellow NFL small screen star Jason Taylor, hoping to be remembered more for his acting accomplishments than his gridiron grind.
Then again, if the ‘Boys start losing in September, get ready for some Owens explosions.
Better have Ines Sainz on standby to cover the meltdown - and help melt Terrell’s heart.
