Are you ready to rumble … at your local gym? Dana White hopes so, as USA TODAY reports that the UFC is teaming with the founder of 24 Hour Fitness to open a chain of MMA-themed gyms across the country. There won’t be fighting taking place at the gyms, but there will be the UFC’s famous Octagons there. And, if you aren’t giving 100 percent during workouts, one of their personal trainers/fighters will put you in a triangle choke hold.
OK, that last part is actually not true. But the UFC Gym is designed to replicate the atmosphere of a UFC fight, except without the blood or the ring girls. It will combine all the elements of a traditional gym with some new, unconventional training techniques designed to mimic those performed by UFC fighters while preparing for fights, including flipping tires, lifting chains, swinging sledgehammers and lugging bricks.
