Last night Tito Ortiz held a press conference in Los Angeles with his lawyer Chris Mathews in which attorney Mathews claimed Ortiz did not physically abuse Jenna Jameson - and that the mother of Ortiz’s two children was addicted to Oxycontin.

Ortiz lawyer Mathews:
“Jenna has been fighting a battle with OxyContin addiction for the past year. For Tito and her family this has been an uphill battle. Unfortunately this morning she had a relapse. Tito was trying to help her, she has threatened suicide before. Tito has done everything in his power to protect her privacy and the privacy of their children.”
Mathews also added that Jameson’s family knows of her alleged Oxycontin addiction and said Jameson’s father “came to Tito’s assistance and Tito’s side” by bringing clothes to Ortiz when the MMA Fighter was in custody yesterday.
Mathews said of Jameson’s right arm injury, which she has noted as “two torn ligaments“: “Jenna unfortunately has a scratch on her elbow. Oftentimes when you have people on Oxycontin they don’t have the best balance.” Read more…

Monday morning MMA Fighter Tito Ortiz was arrested in Huntington Beach, CA., on suspicion of felony domestic violence after he was accused of “throwing down” his live-in girlfriend Jenna Jameson.

(Jameson brought out her twin 13-month sons for the paparrazzi)
After Ortiz was hauled off to an Orange County, CA., jail, Jameson, while wearing a large bandage on her right arm, repeatedly told the paparazzi that she was planning to press charges against the father of her twin, 13-month-old baby boys.

(TMZ.com reports Ortiz has posted bail and been released)
But RadarOnline.com reports Monday that she’s apparently had a change of heart. Read more…

Despite the occasional craziness from chief Dana White, WWE-style bluster from Brock Lesnar, or morning TV sexytime from Tito Ortiz, UFC is still the serious big kid on the block when it comes to mixed martial arts. Fedor Emelianenko might be heading to Strikeforce, but in general when the best fighters on Earth get down to business, they do it in the Octagon.

Last night’s UFC 101 event was no exception, as the two main co-event victors Anderson Silva and B.J. Penn cemented themselves as two of MMA’s best fighters, both in surprisingly efficient - but quite different - fashion.

Critics of mixed martial arts like to dismiss the sport as a kind of savage alternative to professional wrestling. They listen to blustering loudmouths like UFC’s Dana White and hear a young Vince McMahon, or they see UFC champion and former WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar and see…well, Brock Lesnar. The confusing (to outsiders) revolving doors of MMA sanctioning bodies doesn’t help, though that’s actually par for the course in a young and growing sport.

One way to combat those misconceptions is through reaching out to the public and showing that MMA fighters aren’t just ‘roided-up pro wrestlers and that their sport is legitimate. It’s an ongoing process, and one that got a boost when Tito Ortiz recently announced his return to UFC after a lengthy feud with White. Ortiz appeared with fellow UFC fighter Matt Serra on a Philadelphia TV morning show to banter with the host. In a display of journalistic excellence, the host was more concerned with the fighters getting naked than anything else.

We swear, that headline is entirely factual. It’s not gratuitously elaborated or blown out of proportion. Lee Murray, a former UFC fighter and one of the most fascinating sports subjects on the planet really did try to break out of a Moroccan prison, allegedly by taking out the window of his cell with small saws he was hiding in plates of biscuits.

(Not actually Lee Murray, but IS actually a Moroccan prison.)
Again, we’re not making any of this up. It turns out that Murray, who is being held on charges of cocaine possession (but is also wanted back in his native Britain for one of the most notorious and successful high stakes robberies since the days of the old West) had cut a ton of weight to prepare for an attempt to wriggle out of his window cell once he cut out all the bars. In case you aren’t up to speed on Moroccan prisons, we feel comfortable saying this about them: They don’t have very large windows. According to FIGHTERS ONLY MAGAZINE (via YAHOO!’s CAGEFIGHTER), Murray’s whole plan was foiled when he was kicked out of his jail cell for — get this — using a laptop with full internet access in his cell, an indiscretion which got him in more trouble when a full five kilograms of drugs were found in the cell as well.
