Here’s a banner that was being towed by a plane over Augusta National Golf Club today as Tiger Woods was teeing off on the first hole of The Masters tournament:

The sign is referencing Tiger’s claim that he has recently turned to Buddhism to help him through his recent ordeal.
Fighter jets likely to be scrambled at any moment now…

How desperate is Nike and Tiger get back into your pocket? They’ll exhume Tiger’s dead dad Earl Woods to help restore six-iron sales.

(Gee, I’d forgotten Earl said that. Thanks Nike!)
Thank goodness 99.9% of the people who will watch the :30 spot have no idea that in 1997 Tiger effectively traded in his relationship with his father for the honorable pursuit of selling golf bags.

Here’s a few more photos of Raychel Coudriet, the Univ. of Alabama coed the NATIONAL ENQUIRER reported today had a tryst with Tiger Woods last year.

I’ve gone through literally over 100 photos of her today.

From those shots, she seems like any other college coed.

Any other coed who also happens to have a super-rich homebuilder father (Ray Coudriet) who flies her around in a private jet.

There’s a few pics of her partying in the shots I’ve seen, but nothing out of control.

She’s just a regular girl it appears who happened to have an connection to Tiger Woods.

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER reported today on yet another alleged extramarital tryst involving Tiger Woods. The woman in question is Raychel Coudriet, a 22-year-old college student at the University of Alabama.

(Raychel with father and Windermere-area home builder Ray Coudriet)
The Enquirer reported Coudriet as a neighbor of Woods in Orlando, so it isn’t a coincidence that her father, famed Florida luxury home builder Ray Coudriet, has some of his designs on the market in the same neighborhood as the Woods family home.

In 1997, the ORLANDO SENTINEL reported Woods buying a $3.5M piece of property in Windermere which eventually would become the site of his current family home.

Who did the Sentinel go to for comment at the time about the development?
Ray Coudriet, whose daugher Raychel was 9 at the time. Read more…

Today we got another glimpse into why Tiger Woods was able to fool so many people for so damn long. And it had nothing to do with what Tiger himself said at his press conference at The Masters.

This question, from longtime San Francisco-area golf reporter Art Spander, was much more telling about why Tiger was able to carry on multiple extramarital affairs while on Tour:
You (Tiger) and the rest of us discovered a lot of media we didn’t know existed until the accident. I just wondered your response to the mainstream media, which was a lot more critical, obviously, than it had been; were you surprised, or did you sort of expect that?
Tiger’s response is irrelevant.
What matters is the mindset of Spander, who has been covering golf for decades and is among the closest media members to Tiger. I myself have worked Tiger Woods press conferences while sitting in the front row of media rooms next to Spander, including at The Memorial in Ohio and past Tiger Target/Chevron Challenge events.
What’s clearly, completely lost on Spander is the media he was mocking in his question to Tiger is the sole reason the golfer has changed his life - for the better! (At least if you believe Tiger.)

John Boyette of the AUGUSTA CHRONICLE reports that Tiger Woods has arrived in Augusta in preparation for The Masters Thursday.

(Gone Huggins With Jim Furyk)
The four-time Masters Tournament champion arrived at Augusta National Golf Club shortly after 1 p.m. today and made his way to the practice range, where he hit balls. He teed off on the 10th hole with friend and 1998 Masters winner Mark O’Meara and a guest of O’Meara’s.
Woods, wearing khaki pants and a light purple shirt, was hitting balls between Englishmen Paul Casey and Luke Donald. He greeted Casey and shook his hand when he entered the range.
Woods’ longtime caddie Steve Williams and swing coach Hank Haney accompanied him.
Extra security ringed the club’s new practice area, but it looked like business as usual. Woods hit wedges to one of the new target greens, then worked his way through the bag before heading to the course.
The Chronicle also has a photo gallery of Woods today in Augusta.

In a March 21 interview, Kelly Tilghman of The Golf Channel asked Tiger Woods about media reports that indicated members of his “inner circle” knew of “misdoings“.

Woods:
That is not true, it was all me. I’m the one who did it, I’m the one who acted the way I acted, no one knew what was going on. I’m sure if more people would have known in my inner circle they would’ve, they would’ve stopped it…or tried to put a stop to it but I kept it all to myself.
Larry Dorman of the NEW YORK TIMES follows up with Woods about that statement, which based on hard evidence presented by alleged Woods mistresses, appears to be untrue.
In a statement to Dorman, Woods said:
“No one is responsible for my behavior but me. Even though there were times when I deceived various people in my organization, most were simply told little to nothing and kept in the dark. Obviously, I did this to avoid owning up to my actions. I expressed regret for that manipulation because the fault is mine alone and so is the blame.”
So is Woods now intimating that members of his “inner circle” may have unwittingly aided in the execution of his extramarital affairs?
Yes. Read more…

For those of you who think the bizarre treatment incurred by CBS in its dealing with The Masters is unique to the television network, consider the most recent, absurd coverage compromise ESPN was forced to make with Augusta National Golf Club.

(+1)
ESPN’s coverage of The Masters first round isn’t scheduled to start until 4pm ET next Thursday, meaning the network will miss the first live shots of Woods in his return to golf. With that in mind, ESPN had to undertake the unenviable task of going hat in hand to Augusta National to push for a live coverage allowance of Woods’ early holes.
What ESPN ended up “agreeing” to was just another in a long line of embarrassingly insular broadcast decisions by The Masters. Read more…

Restaurant review site TableConversation.com reports this week that a restaurant in Bangkok has been using an interesting marketing tool to get people to enter its establishment:

Here’s a new image of Tiger Woods. It’s made entirely of condoms, and the belt buckle says, “Let do it Tiger.” Play golf or what?
Next to Tiger is a condom-decorated Christmas tree, the perfect gift.
Insulting? Sarcastic? Not at all, if you understand the source. Read more…
