Marc Berman of the NEW YORK POST reports on comments made this week by Magic Johnson about the New York Knicks, who are currently 17 games below .500: “They’re going to make the playoffs. They’re going to be a tough seventh, eighth seed too, especially now that they’re looking like they’re turning the corner.
“I think they’re going to make the run because everyone is comfortable in their roles. And everybody is playing hard. You could see they are turning the corner. Now everyone knows their roles.’’
“I can see when teams are starting to make their run. I think they’ll settle in after the All-Star break and make their run. Because there’s no way I don’t see them making the seven and eighth seed when I look at the East.’’
When Magic, who still lives in L.A., says “when I look at the East,” we think more about the next Asian fusion establishment he’ll be sitting down at on La Cienega, not him scouring tape of the Indiana Pacers.
Magic is now doing TV work for TNT, which is really a shame, because it’s obviously taking him away from what he does best: opening TGI Fridays with his name on them, not evaluating the Memphis Grizzlies.
