12:30 PM After being suspended indefinitely on Wednesday, Tennessee Volunteers TE Cameron Clear has been dismissed from the team after he was charged with stealing a laptop from a UT baseball player.
12:15 PM A man who was arrested for streaking across Busch Stadium during a St. Louis Cardinals game Thursday night said he did it because he lost a bet.
Not many new blogs break into my multiple-daily-visit bookmarks, but over the past few weeks, Jeff Pearlman’s blog has become a must-read. Pearlman is an acclaimed author and longtime contributor to SPORTS ILLUSTRATED. He currently writes for SI.com.
Last Thursday Pearlman posted his reax to the recently-published Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. And coming from a longtime SIer, his public view might surprise you. Here’s a taste:
So the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue arrived in the mail yesterday.
(Hey, it isn’t like the tramp stamp said “Aim Here”)
Sports Illustrated acknowledged that the tattoo, on the small of her back, was taken out, but a spokesman didn’t comment as to why it made that editorial decision. Patrick’s tattoo was in the issue last year.
From what I’ve found out subsequently, SI has a longstanding policy of removing tattoos on all of the swimsuit models. But if that indeed is the case, why did Patrick’s tattoo get through last year?
One guess is that because of the massive layoffs at SI this year, perhaps the editors of this year’s swimsuit issue hadn’t worked on past issues. So maybe there was a disconnect. Otherwise, the treatment of Patrick’s body ink makes no sense.
So what did Patrick say about the whole thing? Rovell followed up with her too. Read more…
I haven’t seen many images from the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Swimsuit Issue™ today, but I did watch a little of this SI-shot video of cover model Bar Refaeli, via TMZ:
(SI marketing geniuses to consider selling ‘uncensored’ swimsuit feature?)
Over the years, SI has slowly forced the models into more revealing poses. First came models in thongs in the ’90s, and now we have full-blown implied nudity on virtually every page of the issue and SI.com.
With the progression of Sports Illustrated’s racy content, that can only mean one thing. I fully expect that we will see nudity in future Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues™. Read more…
According to a report in COED MAGAZINE, a publication which we have no reason to doubt, the cover girl of this year’s SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT EDITION is none other than the beautiful Bar Refaeli. The magazine cites snoops at the taping of tonight’s edition of “The Late Show with David Letterman“, where the cover girl is scheduled to appear and be revealed.
Really, this was a story that was going to be full of good news no matter which way it turned out. According to all relevant straw polls, Refaeli and Andy Roddick’s fiance, Brooklyn Decker, were the heavy favorites.
(Guess Brooklyn will have to wait ’til next year)
The 23-year-old Refaeli is also Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, so SPORTS ILLUSTRATED was essentially given the rare and brilliant choice of picking the attachment of an American celebrity whichever way it went.
(More brilliant Bar Refaeli photos after the jump.)
Anna Rawson is one of the up & coming stars of the LPGA Tour. But if you haven’t had a chance to see her on the course, you may get a chance to see her in a swimsuit for SI.
OOBGOLF recently sat down & chatted with the lovely LPGA rookie. During the conversation, Rawson was approached about the possibility of baring some skin for a swimsuit shoot with SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
