New GM: 49ers Players Should be Diverse Yuppies
The SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS has profile of new 49ers GM Scot McCloughan. And after reading the piece, we’re sure San Franciscans will absolutely love him.

(Not from Frisco)
McCloughan on the type of player he is looking for: “You need to figure out who the person is. Some of it is even figuring out whether they can fit into a certain geographical area. There are kids we pass on in the draft that we can’t fit into Northern California. They can’t fit on the West Coast.”
First of, what does San Fransisco have to do with the west coast? We live in L.A. and have no idea what he’s talking about. Frisco is the east coastiness town we know.
Thankfully McCloughan digs himself a deeper hole explains further, “Just because the whole mentality, philosophy of the area is different from the rest of the country. It’s more yuppie-like compared to a Florida or Georgia, much more diverse with all the nationalities, not just black and white but all kinds of people. It’s something different to handle for some kids who have never been out here.”
Sounds like the Niners have their man! Talk about an innovative organization. We’re guessing McCloughan will spend his offseason inspecting the staff at the Menlo Park Pottery Barn in search of the next Frank Gore.
