As I first told you last Wednesday afternoon, Sasha Vujacic and Maria Sharapova are now “dating”, and Flashcity.com has a photo of them yesterday holding hands in Los Angeles.

Very strange to see a L.A. Laker showing genuine affection for a female when reality show producer Ryan Seacrest hasn’t scheduled the cameras to be trained on him.

Has Sashapova learned nuthin’ from KhlOdom?

Lakers beat reporter Kevin Ding of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER confirmed last night what I told you yesterday afternoon. Maria Sharapova is dating Sasha Vujacic of the Lakers:
“Other sources confirmed the Manhattan Beach neighbors have been seeing each other.”

Ding and L.A. DAILY NEWS reporter Eliot Teaford asked Vujacic about the relationship, which reportedly included the two attending a U2 concert together. Read more…

Two different online journos report today that Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic have recently been seen together.

(Vujachick and Sashapova)
At noon today, CNBC’s Darren Rovell reported that the two were observed “cuddling” at a recent U2 concert.

Okay, no biggie. But another tennis reporter took it a step further. Read more…

It looks like Josh Childress may not be the highest-paid player in Europe for long. In last Sunday’s NEW YORK TIMES, Olympiakos co-owner Panayiotis Angelopoulos issued a warning to NBA clubs thinking their players would stay stateside, saying (emphasis ours), “I think we’ll see a day when a superstar player comes to Europe, but to Olympiacos, not to another team,” he said. “That is my answer. Maybe it will be very soon. Maybe then you realize what I’m telling you is serious.”

Guess what? It appears that Olympiacos is, in fact, serious, as reports are surfacing that the club is preparing an offer for Kobe Bryant. We’re talking 60 million Euro (about $83 million right now) over 3 years. THE HOOP has more details on the perks of the contract, and they are pretty damned nice:

The hard fought battle between “Underused and Underappreciated Yet Not Quite Star-Level Restricted Free Agents” and “Foolish NBA GM’s” is starting to heat up. Josh Childress, representing the former, made like France and ran to Greece. But lest we confuse this tactic of playing overseas with retreating, remember that the players are screwing over their clubs, too.

And the latest guy thinking about rolling out … the one … the only … the VUCHINE. (/single tear) That’s right. The LA TIMES reports that Sasha Vujacic, a.k.a. The Machine, could be leaving the country for Europe as well, if the Lakers don’t pony up more money than their minimal offer sheet.

Sasha Vujacic had a sensational game Tuesday night, bucketing 20 points to help the Lakers win Game 3 & keep their NBA title hopes alive. And it was all thanks to some fashion tips from the Laker Girls.

Jerry Crowe of the LOS ANGELES TIMES teases us with news that Lisa Estrada, director of the Lakers’ dance team, had made a mid-season suggestion to Sasha about his hair style that would soon help his hardwood style: Read more…

Once again, another unheralded player came through for his team in the NBA Finals. Back in Game 2, Leon Powe was a powe-erful presence for the Celtics, scoring 21 points in the Celtics’ win. In Tuesday night’s Game 3, the Lakers staved off a 3-0 deficit thanks to the vaunted play of Sasha Vujacic.

The Slovenian star & bane of b-ball gamblers everywhere scored 20 points, including a crucial 3-pointer with less than two minutes left, to secure the 87-81 victory - and keeping L.A.’s home playoff record perfect.
On the other side of the court, Paul Pierce’s performance could be perceived as pathetic - 2-for-14 from the field while totaling only 6 points. He should’ve just worn this jersey (courtesy of MIX MAKERS):

But it might have been another piece of apparel that jinxed Paul’s evening.

Sasha Vujacic may be one of the toasts of the town in L.A. at the moment, but the Lakers guard should steer clear of Vegas for the time being.

Darren Rovell of CNBC rolls up news that Vujacic’s meaningless last-second shot Thursday night may have cost bettors up to $100 million in losses.
