It’s not all that unsurprising to hear that a professional athlete’s son or daughter is also talented at sports or possesses athletic physical qualities. That’s just how hereditary genes work. Yes, my father is a brilliant writer and a super genius, thanks for asking.

So finding out that Randy Moss’ daughter Sydney is getting her glisten and gloss on for a high school varsity team — as an eighth grader — seems just about right. Read more…
The New York Giants didn’t beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. No, it was the BOSTON HERALD’s John Tomase and his February 2nd story about the Pats taping the Rams’ walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI that caused New England to fall short of a perfect season.

Eli Manning’s very un-Eli-like fourth quarter performance, David Tyree’s spectacular catch, and the Giants’ pass rush had nothing to do with the Pats waiting until SB XLII to lose a game. It was the ink on the page found under the byline that read “John Tomase” that caused Tom Brady, Randy Moss and crew to lose.
At least that’s what the Pats fans have been thinking since February. (PATS FANS.COM’s “Official John ‘Borges’ Tomase Should Be Fired Thread” was born on February 6). Fuel was added to the fire this spring when former member of the Patriots’ video staff Matt Walsh handed over eight tapes, yet the Rams’ walkthrough was not one of them. According to PRO FOOTBALL TALK, it looks as though Patriots fans’ wish has come true.

The MILWAUKEE JOURNAL-SENTINEL is looking out for you, the people. They understand that there’s a little exhibition baseball game going on tonight that you may have some interest in watching, instead of watching part two of the Brett Favre interview on FOX NEWS tonight.

The paper has obtained the full transcript of the interview, including the parts where he slams Ted Thompson, Packers’ GM for not listening to Brett’s suggested front office moves. Brett cites three instances where Thompson ignored him, 1) “I worked my butt off two years ago to try to get them to sign Randy Moss,” 2) Favre said he once tried to convince Thompson to re-sign Marco Rivera and Mike Wahle, two key linemen, but the two got away and signed elsewhere. 3) Favre told Van Susteren he tried to convince Thompson to interview Steve Mariucci, an old friend, for the head coaching job vacated by Mike Sherman. Favre said Thompson ended up hiring Mike McCarthy instead.
Favre says because Thompson didn’t listen to his suggested personnel decisions, he cannot trust him:

During Game 7 of the Celtics-Cavaliers series, cameras caught Randy Moss among the Garden’s crowd. And the Pats receiver was seen styling a West Virginia University jacket. Problem is, Moss attended Marshall University. And the Huntington, WV, school has an intense dislike for the Mountaineers from Morgantown.

The CHARLESTON DAILY MAIL (via MJD of YAHOO’s SHUTDOWN CORNER & Mike Reiss of the BOSTON GLOBE) has the story on Randy’s offending Game 7 apparel. Some Marshall & WVU fans consider Moss’ choice of clothing similar to Jim Tressel throwing on a Michigan sweater vest or Pete Carroll putting on a UCLA jersey.
But Randy’s agent Tim DiPiero says don’t treat it as treason: Read more…
