Ocho Cinco Es Muy Loco, Shoves NFL Employee

Alex Marvez of FOX SPORTS learns that even a trip to paradise can’t calm Chad Johnson down.

Chad Johnson smile

Ocho Cinco is in Hawaii as a Pro Bowl alternate (replacing Randy Moss). But the south seas experience can’t soothe the sullen receiver about his current career with Cincinnati. After Thursday’s practice, Johnson ripped into the Bengals for the benefit of NFL Network cameras - but didn’t speak to any other media members.

NFL media relations employee Michael Lipman tried to delay Johnson’s exit so he could answer a few other questions. Marvez then asked Chad “whether he was having a better off-season after venting some of his frustration publicly at the Super Bowl.”

The NY Post Apparently Enjoys SbB’s Gift For Gifs

Where the MSM’s disdain doesn’t bother us as much as it bothers Shaq:

One-Fifth of Pro Bowlers Not Heading For Honolulu

ESPN’s HASHMARKS points out an interesting stat about this weekend’s Pro Bowl: About 20% of the original choices aren’t going.

Pro Bowl Peyton Manning Jake Delhomme

17 selected all-stars - including the likes of Tom Brady & Brett Favre - decided not to fly out to Hawaii. Most have bowed out claiming injury, but it’s more likely that a lot of players are ho-hum about the Honolulu trip.

NFL commish Roger Goodell has been working to inject some life into a game that’s become an afterthought to both fans & players. Suggestions have included rotating the game among other cities, or moving up the game to the weekend before the Super Bowl.

Redskins Safety Sean Taylor Voted To Pro Bowl Posthumously

SEAN TAYLOR VOTED TO PRO BOWL AFTER SHOOTING DEATH After being shot & killed at his home, Redskins safety Sean Taylor was posthumously voted to the Pro Bowl:

Sean Taylor Redskins

YAHOO! SPORTS passes out the rosters for the February all-star extravaganza in Honolulu, including the salute to the late Washington defensive back.Taylor was already a leading vote-getter before being shot at his Miami home and dying of his wounds last month. Sean is the first player to make an all-star team after his death since 1986, when Flyers goalie Pelle Lindbergh was voted to the NHL All-Star game 3 months after dying in a car accident.

In less morbid news, Dallas led all teams with 11 players elected to the NFC squad, while New England had 8 players placed on the AFC team.

Brett Favre quilt

Brett Favre will be starting for the NFC in his 9th Pro Bowl appearance. It’s the first time the Green Bay QB will be at Aloha Stadium since 2003.Curiously, 10-4 Jacksonville doesn’t have any Jaguars heading for Hawaii. Guess 10 wins in the AFC doesn’t go as far as it used to.

Brett Favre Finishes First In Pro Bowl Fans Balloting

FOR A TRIP TO HONOLULU, FAVRE IS THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE: The football masses have spoken, and for the 2008 Pro Bowl, Brett Favre is the people’s choice:

Brett Favre arms up

The MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL’s PACKERS BLOG reports that the Green Bay quarterback came out on top of the fan portion of the all-star balloting.Favre received over 1,140,000 votes, passing over fellow QBs Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

NFL.com reports that over 83 million votes were cast on their website. The fans’ choices counts for one-third of the Pro Bowl nomination process, along with players’ and coaches’ selections.

Adrian Peterson Vikings

Other top vote-getters include Tony Romo, WR Randy Moss, and Adrian Peterson. In fact, the Vikings RB also ran away with top rookie honors, beating runner-up Dallas kicker Nick Folk by almost 500,000 votes. The official Pro Bowl lineups will be announced on Tuesday, December 18, during a special on the NFL Network. Since the presentation will be on this particular channel, fans might as well book flights for Honolulu in order to see who’s actually playing.

As for Favre, what’s the secret of his popular success? His record-breaking longevity? Passionate Packer Backers stuffing the ballot boxes for their Lambeau Legend?
