MANNING & BRADY RACE TO BE 1ST TO BEAT 31 NFL TEAMS: A week before their big matchup, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are battling for bragging rights to another NFL record - the first QB to beat 31 teams:
The CANADIAN PRESS tosses us news that both Brady and Manning can meet the historic mark on Sunday, if each field general leads their respective troops to victory.Peyton travels to Carolina, where he hopes to keep the Colts’ season perfect against the Panthers. Meanwhile, Tom gets a visit from the Redskins.
In his last performance against Washington in 2003, Brady threw 3 INTs as the Pats were patted 16-13. Meanwhile, Manning was undermanned in his two previous tries against Carolina, losing by scores of 27-19 and 23-20.
Of the two, Peyton has the best chance to clinch it first, since his game starts at 1 p.m. Eastern, while Brady doesn’t hit the field until 4:15.And hot on their heels is a signal-caller who’s already carved his name many times in the NFL’s record books - Brett Favre.
If Indy & New England somehow both lose next weekend, the Packers QB can become #1 in another category when Green Bay faces Kansas City on November 4.
Because of the number of teams and the way schedules are set, the chance to face every NFL opponent doesn’t come very often. For example, Brady has faced the Redskins only once in his 7 1/2-year career. If the Three QB-Teers accomplish their feats, then there’s only one path left for them to take - get traded and then beat their former franchise. Brett, Tom & Peyton will then have wins over all 32 teams, a record to stand for the ages.
Until the NFL expands again.
