From the Utterly Shameless Indulgence Department:
“Neil Diamond will be the only concert at Boston’s Fenway Park this summer when he performs Aug. 23 as part of his upcoming world tour.”

To promote the date, he showed up (taped) on the center field scoreboard on Tuesday to sing “Sweet Caroline” with the assembled faithful. Red Sox owner Tom Werner danced along with the song (on tape as well). Boston fan restraint was apparently last seen boarding the train for the coast with a man, his son, and a Casper look-alike.
If you’re going to catch one huge circle jerk of in-jokes, circular references, crowd pandering, and reinforcement of stereotypes with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner in attendance at Fenway Park this summer… well, pick any home date. Still, you could do worse than the Neil Diamond concert. At least you’ll get to come to America today.
