Three weeks ago I reported on Kentucky wide receiver Randall Cobb encouraging his Twitter followers to boycott Red Lobster because a hostess there had lamented the football team’s lack of success to him while he waited for a table. (Really.)

Saturday Cobb and his teammates went a long way to exorcising that so-called fan attitude with an upset win over South Carolina at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.

But based on Cobb’s Tweets after the game, he apparently was focused on everything but the result on the field. Read more…

The Univ. of Kentucky football team figures to face a hostile environment Saturday as it travels to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. It’s hard to predict how the Wildcats will react in such a setting, though thanks to a Lexington, Ky., Red Lobster, we may already have an inkling.

Monday on his Twitter feed, UK star wide receiver Randall Cobb related an unpleasant experience he had during a visit to the local seafood restaurant.
Just came to Red Lobster to eat and Audrey working at the door told me I must be a big UK fan because I have a lot of UK stuff on.
I then told her I was one of the biggest fans and she then says “how many more games do you think we will win before were horrible again”
#disrespectful #slapintheface #wow congrats Red Lobster just lost a top customer. Man I really wanted some of those biscuits too!
@mnewt709 that is a great idea ima call Sandy Bell tm and propose Red Lobster being on the banned restaurant list for all UK athletics
Later, Cobb confirmed to Brett Dawson of the LOUISVILLE COURIER-JOURNAL that he left the restaurant after the comments by the hostess : Read more…

TMZ.com reported early Friday “the NCAA is taking an aggressive look at University of Kentucky basketball players — past and current — and their possible involvement with professional agents.”

(Wall’s former AAU coach negotiated new Reebok deal for former UK player)
More:
In the case of one former Wildcat, we’re told the NCAA wants to know about his relationship with his current agent. We’re told the investigator asked about multiple meetings the agent allegedly had with the player … dating back to the player’s senior year in high school.
The insinuation is the agent had an arrangement with the player before he went to Kentucky.
Such an “arrangement” would constitute an NCAA violation.
Today I looked into TMZ’s report and subsequently confirmed a former Kentucky player the NCAA is indeed investigating.

Before ballers started faking college for 15 minutes before going pro, I actually looked forward to the NBA Draft. Now only hoops junkies with an Armenian translator on retainer care about the process.

But this year, thanks to DeMarcus Cousins, is different.
Cousins is the first guy in a looong time to actually bring some genuine intrigue to the NBA Draft. Why? Because though he’s a top talent, he’s also a major league a-hole. Just ask his teammate at Kentucky, Daniel Orton. Read more…

Kentucky Coach John Calipari Tweeted Friday morning:

I’ve said many times that I’ve got the best job in the country. Still the speculation runs wild and I can’t stop that … I want to address this with the Big Blue Nation one last time, I will be coaching at Kentucky next year. Now let’s finish what we started!
Translation: A recruit called Calipari this morning and asked him if he was leaving UK.
The ’speculation’ that Calipari claims comes out of thin air most recently had him considering the head coaching position with the Bulls - if LeBron James was to join the same team. Calipari was also seen attending Cavaliers playoff games, further fueling ’speculation’ involving a connection between the two.
So with Calipari unequivocably confirming that he’ll be back at UK next season, could that be taken as a sign James is not considering joining the Bulls?
As Mike Brown is reportedly soon to be let go as Cavaliers coach, could that also be a sign that Calipari knows James won’t be staying in Cleveland? Read more…

Alan Smith of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER reports this week, via on the record sources, that Dale Earnhardt, Jr., was allegedly responsible for breaking up the marriage of former University of Kentucky football player Tommy Cook.

(On-Record Claim: Former UK cheerleader divorced Cook for Dale, Jr.)
Cook, who recently joined the coaching staff at UK as a graduate assistant, divorced former wife and childhood sweetheart Amy Reimann in 2008 after less than two years of marriage.
Bo Mallette, who was best man at Cook’s wedding to Reimann, claimed on the record to the Enquirer that Earnhardt and Reimann had a relationship while she was still married to Cook:
“Amy got involved with Dale Earnhardt while she was still married to Tommy. Their marriage didn’t even last two years.”

As if the news can’t get any worse for the good people of Lexvegas, now comes word that the town has been hit by a massive bandwagon recall.

Brought on by repeated mechanical failure, passengers report windows suddenly and unexpectedly closing after exactly one year of vehicle use.
John Calipari is now reportedly on a mission to procure replacement parts, which apparently can only be found in East Rutherford, NJ.

Aran Smith of NBADraft.net has a breakdown of DeMarcus Cousins that includes commentary from an unnamed NBA Scout:
One scout when asked about Cousins chances of going top 5 texted me this (over a week ago):

“No way…mental issues…he is on bigtime meds i hear…not athletic enough for me talent wise also…but he has been great last month…”
That same scout has since stated that he thinks Cousins will probably go “very high” in the draft, but says he wouldn’t touch him in the top five for fear of off court issues.
Perhaps part of Cousins’ on- and off-court issues are psychological and require medication, but I think there’s another clear reason for what some would characterize as self-destructive behavior. Read more…

John Calipari sets the scene on his Twitpic.com account today: “At a photo shoot for Slam Magazine. Look for the issue in March.”

(Shocked to find out there’s precedent)
In other UK hoops news, the school’s championship banner audit is nearing completion.
