You’d have to be pretty emboldened to prepare for a speech to the ladies in that fashion. Wonder what Olympians are part of this particular pep talk.

Jennie Finch To Make One Last Pitch At Olympics

Jennie Finch will be in Beijing this August as part of the powerhouse U.S. Olympic softball squad. However, her biggest win may not be in Beijing this year but in Copenhagen in 2009. That’s when the games will be selected for the 2016 Summer Olympics and will be the next opportunity for softball to be an Olympic sport again.

Jennie Finch

That’s right; softball has joined baseball as persona non grata at the 2012 London Olympics due to their limited world appeal and (in the case of softball) U.S. domination of the sport. The Isle of Great Britain will only have bats swung within its shores in 2012 by soccer hooligans.

Jennie Finch Plans To Bring Baby To Beijing Olympics Next Summer

WE LOVE JEN, BUT THIS REALLY BORDERS ON CHILD ABUSE: Softball honey (and all-around amazing Mom) Jennie Finch is planning to bring her adorable, 15-month-old baby Ace Shane to the Beijing Olympics with her next year.

Jennie Finch

Finch: “It looks like it right now, he is [coming]. He actually went with me a year ago when we went there, so he’s already been there, done that. So we’ll go back and show him the Great Wall again.

Jennie Finch

I know it is [a long plane flight]. He was 2 1/2 months last time we went over, and it’s going to be a different story this next year.“The plane flight is the last thing we’re worried about. If forcing a baby to endure Beijing’s pollution and the U.S. women’s softball prelims against Micronesia isn’t child abuse, we don’t know what is.

Softball icon Jennie Finch and her husband, …

Softball icon Jennie Finch and her husband, Caisey Daigle, have chosen a name for their soon to be born son: Ace Shane Daigle.

When babies are born, it’s fun to imagine the possibilities - president, doctor, pilot, athlete. But when you name your child Ace Shane, you immediately limit his options to baseball pitcher, stock car driver, and loan shark.

The Women’s "National Pro Fastpitch" league is planning it’s third relaunch. I’m personally rooting for the league to last at least one game so I can update my Jennie Finch file:

Gig #128 was once again the place to be on Monday night in Los Angeles.

Intrigue and excitement enveloped a grand gathering of SbBers - and the SbB Girls - at The Bitter Redhead.

A spirited SbB Trivia battle ensued, with longtime SbB supporter ETyer coming within an eyelash of his first SbB title - only to be thwarted by LoDucafan in the SbB Championship round. SbBer Brent and rookie Anthony filled out the final round.

A spectacular quartet of SbB Girls presided over the proceedings, including Denise, Jessica, Leah and Annie.

Special thanks to SbB Hall of Famers USFL Fan, Brratt, and SbB Girls Denise and Josie, and Craig and Leeann at The Bitter Redhead.

HOT BOX: Jennie Finch has forever been softball’s most-popular statuesque sweetheart, but she appears to now have some competition for that title.

Ashley Van Boxmeer is an outfielder (5-11!) for Cal-State Fullerton, and based on her myspace account, apparently isn’t shy about a trip around the bases. She also happens to be the the daughter of former Montreal Canadians and Buffalo Sabres defenseman (and current Kings asst. coach) John Van Boxmeer.
