Graphic design major Ivan Cash was just trying to, ahem, cash in on the frustration of Knicks fans with his homemade t-shirts. And he was making a good profit, until New York City police shut down his sales:
The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports that the 22-year-old SUNY Geneseo student was hauled away in handcuffs while trying to peddle his wares to the weary Knicks populace outside Madison Square Garden Wednesday night. The orange shirts featured the face of Isiah Thomas with the words “Don’t Hate The Player or The Game; Hate The Coach.”
Cash was held in a Midtown jail for three hours until after the Knicks lost to Sacramento, then was then given a ticket for “intent to sell” and released. If the game was on TV in his cell, Ivan might want to sue for cruel & unusual punishment.
