UM AD’s Jet In Dallas; Miles Agent Based In Dallas

Following LSU’s Cotton Bowl victory over Texas A&M in Dallas on Friday, Les Miles couldn’t have made more clear, at least under the circumstances, that he was seriously considering a move to the Univ. of Michigan.

Though as Miles left Dallas for Baton Rouge with his team following the game, Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon’s private jet, of which he has access based on an agreement with former employer Dominos Pizza, was spotted arriving at Love Field in Dallas just hours after Miles had departed the city.

According to flight records, Brandon’s jet arrived from Scottsdale around 7pm local time on Saturday. (Brandon has a vacation home in Scottsdale.)

So why would Brandon’s jet be arriving in Dallas just as Miles was departing the Metroplex?

TCU Coach Berated Dr. For Protecting KO’d Player

Kevin O’Reilly of the American Medical Association had an extremely troubling report out of Ft. Worth this week from TCU football team physician Dr. Samuel Haraldson.

Gary Patterson Dr. Samuel Haraldson

(Dr. on Patterson’s staff? The truth shall get you fired.)

Haraldson reported to the AMA that after TCU football player Ed Wesley was literally knocked unconscious and later suffered memory loss during a Sept. 24 game against SMU, the doctor was “insanely” berated by TCU head coach Gary Patterson when Haraldson refused to allow Patterson to put Wesley back in the game.

Haraldson in the AMA report:

“Then five or six plays later, I literally was verbally accosted by the coach, screaming at me insanely at the top of his lungs that he doesn’t think [Wesley] has a concussion and what right do I have to hold him out.”

More from the AMA’s O’Reilly:

“Then five or six plays later, I literally was verbally accosted by the coach, screaming at me insanely at the top of his lungs that he doesn’t think [Wesley] has a concussion and what right do I have to hold him out,” Dr. Haraldson said.

Once TCU took control of the game, going on to win 41-24, TCU Coach Gary Patterson returned and “cast a pseudo-apology” for the outburst, Dr. Haraldson said.

Asked days after the game by ESPN Dallas about Wesley’s condition, Patterson said the sophomore running back was fine. “As far as I’m concerned,” the coach added, “he was fine 10 minutes after he got hurt.”

With TCU football staff member Dr. Haraldson exposing Patterson’s appalling actions, which are infinitely worse than what supposedly got Mike Leach fired at Texas Tech, it was a given that Haraldson would soon be forced to release a subsequent statement painting Patterson in a favorable light. South Bend Report: ND AD Indeed Wants Stoops

ND beat reporter for the SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE Eric Hansen reports that Bob Stoops is indeed the top choice of Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick for the Irish football coach job.

Bob Stoops Doesn't Deny Interest In Notre Dame

A university source (I know I hate that, but I have to) has Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops at the very top of ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick’s wish list.

Hansen notes the possibilities “He’s Irish. He’s Catholic. He’s Midwestern. … There are rumors that Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, with whom Stoops has a strong relationship, may be in the mix at Michigan. Breaking in a new AD may not be all that appealing to Stoops. Stoops’ twin boys and daughters love Norman, Okla., and have passed the age when moving is no big deal.

Hansen’s only negative: “Wife Carol is a powerhouse in the cosmetics business for Mary Kay.

Apparently Hansen hasn’t seen the women of South Bend (My father, brother and cousin all went there, I know.)

Recently, the CHICAGO TRIBUNE floated the possibility that Notre Dame is interested in Stoops, and here was the coach’s response:

“There’s nothing to talk about. Notre Dame has a coach and I’ve got a great job and you know, people just make stuff up. I don’t need to comment on that. If there’s some basis to anything I’d gladly comment on it, but just some guy makes something up, I don’t need to comment on that stuff.”

That rhetoric should alarm OU fans. Far from a denial.

Hansen has four other candidates, and Brian Kelly isn’t as prominent on Swarbrick’s list as you might think. Read more…

TCU Coach Behind Student Reporter’s Banishment

Last month, TCU student reporter Brian Smith dared to share his opinion about the Horned Frogs’ QB situation, stating on the Mountain West’s TV network that freshman Casey Pachall was good enough to unseat shaky starter Andy Dalton. Well, TCU media relations director Mark Cohen doesn’t like students having an opinion about the football team other than “Go Frogs!”, so he got Smith sacked from the airwaves.

But Cohen isn’t alone in the blame of banishing Brian. Apparently Mark was just doing the dirty work for the man who really wants to mute the media - TCU head coach Gary Patterson.
