Myers Off Radio, Pat O’Brien Back In The Game

One of the cool things about my career is I’ve been able to work with a lot of people who I grew up following in the media. ESPN SportsCenter was in its golden age when I was in college at the Univ. of Georgia and Chris Myers was O.G. back then, manning all the major stories, including narrating the O.J. bronco chase for the Worldwide Leader.

Chris Myers on NASCAR set

(Still weird seeing Myers (l) do NASCAR after all these years)

Fast forward a decade and I’m co-hosting an afternoon drive radio show with same dude in Los Angeles on the USC football flagship. Unlike a lot of prompter jockeys, Chris has an enormous-less ego, so it was good times.

I was doing that show with him when he first got the NASCAR gig. It certainly didn’t fit his career profile or personality, but to his credit he’s made it work. Pro.

Today Don Barrett of LARadio.com reports that Myers has now officially stepped away from his fulltime midday radio show at Fox Sports Radio because of a new NASCAR commit. Read more…

Iowa Football Fan T-Shirt: ‘Ann Arbor Is a Whore’

Matt “Money” Smith of Fox Sports Radio’s Petros and Money Show is calling the Iowa-Michigan game in Iowa City today on Compass Media Networks, and he passed along this lovely pregame photo.

Now where would he get such an idea?

Odom Proposed To ‘Starlet’ Days Before Khloe?

Just as I’d weaned myself off the made-for-TV fake marriage of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian, I heard something that had me tapping my mainline again.

Lamar Odom Taraji Henson

(Did Odom propose to this woman weeks before marrying Khloe?)

If you’ve driven around Los Angeles the past few years, you’ve probably seen billboards for the “Petros and Money Show“, a popular sports radio show on KLAC-AM and syndicated nationally on Fox Sports Radio. Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith have also filled in many times on Jim Rome’s national radio show and appeared on Rome’s ESPN-TV Show Rome Is Burning.

Smith is also a former Lakers radio host. Over the past four years, he hosted all of the Lakers pregame and postgame shows, did some play-by-play of the games and occasionally traveled with the team.

Needless to say, he’s been very close to the Lakers organization during that time, so I take very seriously the bombshell Smith dropped on his radio show yesterday about Lamar Odom. Read more…

Fox Radio Host: Glazer #4 Source Was Jared Allen

Whatta 48 hours for Fox Sports football reporter Jay Glazer!

Is Jared Allen Jay Glazer's stoolie in the Vikings Lockerroom?

(Fox Radio host: ‘Deaf, dumb, blind person knows Glazer source is Vikes’ Allen’)

Tuesday, he broke the news that a certain SbB-embargoed QB would sign with the Vikings. Later that day, Michael Strahan announced on Fox Sports Radio that Glazer will be his presenter at his future Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony. Wednesday, Glazer went on Miami sports radio and said he was so upset at ESPN for marginalizing his breaking stories that he was ready to throw hands with his competitors in Bristol.

That brings us to today, and I’ve got yet another wrinkle to Glazer’s reportage on #4.

Was Jared Allen Jay Glazer’s source on Vikings’ Favre Signing?

Earlier this week, I was listening to one of my favorite shows on radio, hosted by Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith on Fox Sports Radio here in L.A.. Like all other sports radio hosts this week, the duo was burdened with once again having to pick at the rotting Favre-to-the-Upper-Midwest carcass. But during their analysis, Papadakis steered the topic off the well-worn road and presented a more intriguing question: Who was the Vikings’ lockerroom snitch who sold out Favre’s sign to Glazer? Strahan: Wants Glazer To Give HOF Intro, Not Dad

Jay Glazer’s had a pretty good week, but not for the reason you probably know. Yesterday he broke the news that a certain SbB-embargoed QB had the Vikings once again reaching for the lube. But it was something Michael Strahan said on Fox Sports Radio on Monday that I’m guessing is what really made Glazer’s day.

Jay Glazer licks woman's face while partying with Michael Strahan

(And Strahan is worried about what his dad would say? Opposite Day!)

While guesting on the Chris Myers & Steve Hartman Show on FSR, Strahan talked, unprompted, about who he would have as his presenter at his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The all-time, single-season NFL sack leader first brought up his dad as a possibility - then dropped an anvil on the idea.

No, Strahan’s dad will not be inducting him. Nor will any coach or other mentor from his long, storied career. Read more…

Shocker: Fox Sports Radio, LA Local Shows Merge

As foreshadowed by my earlier post today, there were some major changes and deletions made at Fox Sports Radio and L.A. sports radio station KLAC-AM today. Numerous on-air personalities at FSR were let go, replaced by KLAC talent who will now be syndicated nationally.

Chris Myers SbB Girl Erin

(Apparently Myers’ own co-host candidate, SbB Girl Erin, was shot down)

Some of the changes confirmed by an industry source:

FSR’s Craig Shemon and James Washington Show (9a-noon ET) show has been dropped. Dan Patrick’s Show will fill the void, now syndicated by Premiere Networks.

FSR’s Andrew Siciliano and Krystal Fernandez Show (7p-10p ET) show has been dropped. Show will be replaced by KLAC’s “PMS” Show (Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith)

KLAC’s Steve Hartman and Vic Jacobs, formerly the station’s “Loose Cannons” will now co-host national FSR show with Chris Myers from 3-7p ET. Myers’ former co-host, Sean Farnham, moves to FSR weekends. Mychal Thompson, part of the Loose Cannons L.A. show, has been dropped.

FSR’s Overnight show with Ben Maller has also been dropped.

Now word yet on the shows by J.T. The Brick and Steve Czaban but it appears they will remain intact for now.

Pretty radical changes by Clear Channel’s FSR syndicator, Premiere Networks in Los Angeles.

So who was behind the changes? Read more…
