We’ve got some wild business coming out of Las Vegas, where Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s training to fight next month. Among other things, maybe; that’s for the Las Vegas Police Department to investigate. See, while Mayweather’s not a suspect in a shooting at a roller rink (?!), his car’s a central aspect of the investigation.

(Say, we know some guys in the area that can get to the bottom of this…)
According to the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, Mayweather’s car was spotted at the scene of last night’s shooting. Is Mayweather involved? Well, no. Or maybe yes. Or just plain maybe. That’s why they do these investigations, y’know.

When Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement and pulled out of his scheduled rematch against Oscar De La Hoya, it opened up a chance for Manny Pacquiao to step into his place for the fight. And after beating De La Hoya to a pulp for eight rounds, Pacquiao stepped into Mayweather’s place as the universally recognized best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

And if we know anything about boxing, it’s that retirements are about as meaningful as “loser leaves town” matches in pro wrestling. Which is why it’s hard to be shocked with word from THE MANILA TIMES that Mayweather has begun training and wants to take on the winner of the Pacquiao/Ricky Hatton fight. So, Manny Pacquiao.

I had my car stereo broken into back when I was in high school, and I was furious. Technically, it wasn’t a car stereo, but a giant boom box (the size you might see during a scene in Beat Street). And it wasn’t really my car, either - it was my Dad’s Buick. Needless to say, I was quite a hit with the ladies.

The point is that I would have paid good money to catch the lowlifes who broke into the car while I was at the movies. So I can sympathize with Floyd Mayweather Jr., who according to KVBC-TV in Las Vegas, is offering a $100,000 reward for information about stuff taken from his home during a robbery last month. The difference between him and I, though, is that while my “stuff” could be bought at K-Mart for around $50, his “stuff” is jewelry estimated to be worth $7 million.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is retired from boxing, but that doesn’t mean he’s retired from talking. The outspoken pugilist gave the first interview of his post-boxing life to The Grand Rapids Press and covered a wide range of topics.

Money Mayweather says he loved playing the role of the villain, and he’s really retired from boxing. His most interesting comments were directed towards HBO’s boxing coverage and the announcers in particular. Read more…
