Ex-Gator Deleted Twitter Because He’s Innocent

Last week the publisher of one of the best-known college football websites in the business, Spencer Hall of EveryDayShouldBeSaturday.com, posted a piece on his site about the Twitter account of former Florida Gator football player Will Hill.

Will Hill claims Twitter was hacked

(Hill’s Twitter pic also part of sneak attac? By hacker, that is.)

The Tweet feed featured on Hill’s personal account featured entries that included innumerable expletives and other language inappropriate for any manner of public setting.

Monday Hill appeared on Gainesville sports radio station 105 The Game to attempt to explain why the Tweets appeared on his account. Read more…

Report: Weis “Expected” To Take Florida OC Job

While speculating on where former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels may land on the most recent edition of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Chris Mortensen reported, “Don’t be surprised if Charlie Weis doesn’t return to Kansas City.

Despite Kansas City’s stunning turnaround this season and the success of quarterback Matt Cassel under Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Weis, Mortensen speculated that McDaniels could soon replace Weis as KC’s offensive coordinator:

“Josh McDaniels got the most out of Matt Cassel. There are some issues to work out, but watch that.”

Given KC’s remarkable season, many would find that move surprising.

But not as surprising as where a well-respected newspaper columnist and radio host reported Weis could land if he departed the NFL team after just one season.

Or before this season is even over. Read more…

Video: Will Muschamp Talks About Will Muschamp

Tuesday the University of Florida held its introductory press conference for new football coach Will Muschamp.

Will Muschamp goes third person at press conference

(Who knew?)

In following Ron Zook and Urban Meyer, Muschamp is now the third person UF Athletic Director Jeremy Foley has hired for the job during the AD’s tenure in Gainesville.

Apropos since Muschamp clearly is an esteemed graduate of the prestigious Rickey Henderson school of public speaking. (During his first remarks to the media, Muschamp referred to himself in the third person four different times.)

Cam Newton Laptop: Exhibit B In Hall of Shame

Yesterday I posted two documents that served as a partial “payroll” guide for the infamous 1982 SMU Mustangs.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating in saying that those documents could perhaps be the most notorious college football artifacts ever made public.

Thanks to Twitter yesterday, another infamous piece of college football history popped up. Read more…

Video: Georgia Coach’s Choke Sign To UF Kicker

Before Florida’s Chas Henry made the game-winning field goal in overtime against Georgia to give the Gators a 34-31 win in Jacksonville Saturday, Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt called timeout in an attempt to pile the pressure on Henry.

Also apparently part of Georgia’s psychologically-based strategy to distract the kicker at that time was Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham repeatedly displaying the choke sign - with his hands around his own neck - in Henry’s direction.

From video of Grantham, he clearly gave the choke sign four different times - while throwing in what appeared to be some rather creative language for Henry’s benefit.

Auburns As Cam Newton’s True Feelings Exposed

Seven games into the 2010 season, Auburn appears to be the cream of the SEC, with the Tigers currently 7-0 and ranked #5 in the ASSOCIATED PRESS poll.

Dead Bear Bryant

(Who knew it masked such sensitivity?)

But that record of success has done little to douse the anger seen on Auburn message boards and heard on Alabama sports radio this week following an offhand remark by Tiger quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Cam Newton.

Newton, who left the University of Florida two seasons ago after being brought up on felony charges stemming from his possession of a stolen laptop, told reporter Mark Schlabach this week that not only did he miss being a part of the Florida football program, he wished he was still there.

Urban Assault Continues On Women’s Intelligence

On Sept. 14, University of Florida running back Chris Rainey was arrested and charged with felony aggravated stalking. Police reported that Rainey texted his girlfriend, “Time to Die (expletive),” while also threatening to break into her home.

Two weeks later, Rainey accepted deferred prosecution on a reduced charge of misdemeanor stalking. The charges will be dropped in six months if Rainey completes 10 hours of community service and participates in domestic violence counseling.

Jason Lieser of the PALM BEACH POST reported that one of the reasons Rainey’s felony charge was reduced was the victim, “issued a statement Sept. 27 saying she was never fearful of Rainey hurting her.

Rainey, who was the 25th player to be arrested or face charges during coach Urban Meyer’s tenure, was “dismissed” from the team by the coach after the arrest and felony charge.

That dismissal lasted less than a month, as Meyer announced this week that Rainey, who remains on scholarship, has been reinstated to the team. Meyer said of the reinstatement, “I’m disappointed that he violated a core value of our program, but he continues to pay a price for his actions.

Meyer added that one of those “core values” was for Florida football players to “respect women.

The willingness to take Rainey back so quickly is all the more ironic considering what Meyer said in 2006 to Stewart Mandel of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED while touting his method of recruiting high school players. Read more…
