Sisters Apparently Have A Thing For NBA Players

There are four pairs of siblings playing in the NBA. The Collinses, The Gasols, The Grahams, and of course, the Lopez sisters. They could soon be joined by a fourth: Jason Smith and Nene. A-whuh?!

Many parents push their kids into becoming professional athletes. The Prothe family of Fort Collins, Colo., apparently pushes their girls into dating them. And with Lauren Prothe set to wed Nene this weekend, and Ashley Prothe living with her boyfriend Smith, they’re not too far off from being one big, happy, tall family.

Joey Porter Restores Our Undying Faith In Him

Joey Porter has been all over the news of late, and sadly, for a lot of the right reasons. He’s been having a fantastic season on the field for the resurgent Dolphins, correctly predicted the Fins win over the Pats this season, and even refused to respond in kind to Brandon Marshall’s recent outburst about him.

Yeah, I’ve been very disappointed in Porter. But thankfully, he gave us a couple crumbs that get things back to normal with him. First, as noted by DEADSPIN and COLLEGE FOOTBALL TALK, he celebrated a TD at the Colorado State game with one of the Rams players last Saturday. The celebration cost the team a 15-yard penalty. 0-16 CSU Shocks 16-0 Utah In Conference Tourney

It’s been a sorry season for Colorado State basketball. Both the men’s and women’s teams managed to go winless in the Mountain West, each finishing 0-16 in conference play. So you figure come MWC tourney time, it would be one-and-done for both sets of rotten Rams.

The FORT COLLINS COLORADOAN reports the men’s team upset Wyoming 68-63 Wednesday night, snapping a 17-game losing streak while tasting victory for the first time in 2008. But the guys were just following the gals’ lead. Read more…

Colorado State and Washington State Lose Football Coaches

COLO ST, WASH ST, SOUTHERN MISS COACHES KICKED OUT: The college coaching carousel turns yet again, as Sonny Lubick is out at Colorado State:

The DENVER POST reports that Lubick was asked to resign from his post after 15 years at the Fort Collins school. However, CSU has been offered their now ex-coach a position as “goodwill ambassador for Rams athletics”, in order to stay employed with the college.Meanwhile, the SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER reports that Bill Doba has resigned after a five-year stint as Washington State’s head coach.

Doba finishes his performance on the Palouse with a 30-29 record, with his only winning season coming in his first year in 2003.And the HATTIESBURG AMERICAN reports that Jeff Bower has ended his 17-year coaching career with Southern Miss.

Bower announced his final game on the Golden Eagles sideline would be in the Papajohns.com Bowl on Dec. 22 in Birmingham. Ironically, Bower’s first game as USM coach was at Legion Field for the 1990 All-American Bowl.Updating the job listings, here’s the 1-A programs still on the lookout for new leadership:
