Though two years too late, El Paso ABC affiliate KVIA-TV recently sent a reporter to Bolivia to profile former UTEP hoops hottie Claudia Lampe Porras.
We first featured Claudia in early 2008 when she was still playing for the Miners. She’s since returned to her modeling career in Bolivia after a two year stint at UTEP and one year of pro hoops in Denmark. She’s also currently a member of the Bolivian National Team.
The more I think about it, the more I’m considering starting a campaign to get a WNBA team to give her a tryout. She’s 6-2, a legit baller and obviously would bring other qualities to a squad.
Think about the players already on the end of WNBA benches. If Claudia can remain upright and continent on the court, there’s no reason a team shouldn’t sign her.
(Since you’re wondering: Yes, she’s gone topless)

We’ve long admired Claudia Lampe Porras, the former UTEP basketball player who also happens to be a Bolivian model and celebrity.
Since leaving UTEP, she’s back in the modeling biz, with these her latest shots from a fashion show in Bolivia two weeks ago.
I’ve obtained a new cache of previously unseen photos of Lampe (her modeling name), which include a couple topless photos.

Here’s some new full-size(!) photos of former UTEP basketball player Claudia Lampe Porras you haven’t seen. We’ve debated if she’s the hottest female hoops player of all time, and these new, full-size shots of her, in my opinion, confirm that.
Having covered women’s college hoops in the SEC for a few years, I recognize that there are probably some obscure players out there who could match her. But if those persons don’t have a high enough profile on the court for me to be aware of them, then they don’t merit consideration. (That said, send me shots of those players if you know of any in Claudia’s league.)
After taking a hiatus from modeling for her hoops career at UTEP and as a pro briefly Denmark, I’m happy to report that Claudia is back where she belongs: on the runway in Bolivia. Read more…

If you’ve been here awhile, you know how I adore former UTEP basketball player Claudia Lampe Porras. She’s since graduated and moved back to her native Bolivia where she’s playing pro hoops and dabbling in modeling.
Before college, she was a serious model in South America, and you can certainly see why.
Thought I’d freshen up her photos a bit. Some of these may be repeats, but I don’t think any of us will complain.

The MOBILE PRESS-REGISTER has a quickie profile of hottie Aussie golfer Anna Rawson.
As part of the piece assigned to P-R reporter Tommy Hicks *high five Tommy Boy*, we get this:
Rawson is the first professional golfer to establish a cell phone number her fans can call and leave messages for her. Only four weeks old, the number — 213-785-7675 — allows her fans to leave personal messages. She said she has started listening to the messages and is going to return some of the calls. She added she likes the personal touch of the cell phone contact with fans and believes it’s a more personal way to keep in touch with them than mailing an autographed photo.
When I think of LPGA fans, “personal touch” usually isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.
So Rawson plans to return some of the calls? What’s the criteria for her call backs? Sufferer of a life-threatening disease? Honcho of a major corporation offering endorsement deal? South Korean LPGA tour member looking for English lessons?
Since Ms. Rawson went to USC, I’ve got a sure-fire way to elicit a reax: Trojans-Buckeyes tickets. (From My Boy Barry, of course.)

The city of El Paso was certainly excited Saturday night, as the big, bad Texas Longhorns came to town to face the hometown UTEP Miners. Despite a competitive game early on, Mack Brown’s boys eventually mauled Mike Price’s players 42-13. (Not that surprising, since this is the same UTEP squad that was squashed by MAC member Buffalo the week before.)
Still, the loss couldn’t dampen the excitement of El Pasoans, as a record 53,415 fans jammed into the Sun Bowl for Saturday’s showdown. And for those fans who couldn’t get a stadium seat, a nearby mountain provided a perfect spot to watch.
But even as the Longhorns pulled away, one mountainside couple managed to stay excited. And ESPN’s cameras were there to catch the action:
