We’re happy with all the success Claudia Porras achieved with the UTEP women’s basketball team this season - a Conference USA regular season championship, an undefeated conference slate, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

As Brooks enjoys the sights & sounds of San Antonio (Hubert Davis! Wimp Sanderson!), the sisters were doin’ it for themselves down in Tampa Bay on Sunday, as the women’s NCAA basketball championship is now set.

Tennessee escaped against LSU with a last-second shot, while Stanford stymied Connecticut to advance to the title game. And once again, the Cardinal have corrupted the potentially higher entertainment value of the ladies’ tourney.

Brook & Robin Lopez, the twin towers of power of the Stanford basketball squad, seem to have had enough of life on The Farm, as the brothers have decided to go pro.

The twins’ mother, Deborah Ledford, told the ASSOCIATED PRESS that her sons will forgo their final two years of collegiate eligibility and enter the NBA Draft. The pair - or at least their mom - is already on the lookout for agents. But how will they do in pro ball?

Tonight, the Stanford Cardinal take on the UTEP Miners in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET and will be shown on ESPN2.

In the Men’s bracket, everywhere you look, some team is seizing the opportunity to come from behind. Surely Bill Belichick, inspired by Florida’s showing at the NIT last night, took note of some of the action on the court as well.

As the guys get themselves set for their Sweet Sixteen, it’s time for the girls to do their thing. The NCAA Women’s Tournament is underway. And it didn’t take them two days to have an upset, as Hartford knocked off Syracuse.

Although not as fawned over as the Men’s brackets, the fellas over at SOX & DAWGS attempt to add some titillation to the Tourney by selecting their hottest players of the Field of 64. And for such related reasons is why we plan to watch tonight’s UTEP-Western Kentucky contest. Read more…
The UTEP women’s hoops team completed its perfect run in Conference USA play yesterday with a 65-50 win over Tulsa, marking the first time any team in C-USA has finished the season with a flawless record in conference play.

How did 6′1″ Bolivian senior-turned-model Claudia Porras do? Hell if I know. But I’m sure she looked great doing it. Moreover, it grants the opportunity to link to the set of pics
