Angry High School Footballers Wreck Coach’s Car

FOOTBALL BENCHWARMERS TAKE IT OUT ON COACH’S CAR: As a football player, what do you do when you’ve been stuck on the bench all year? You take your anger out on the coach’s car, of course:

Vandalized car

KGBT-TV in Harlingen, TX, reports that seven La Joya High School students were arrested for vandalizing the vehicle. Police say the windows & taillights were smashed in, and motor oil was poured all over the car.

The judge wasn’t very lenient on the sour septet, setting the players’ bond between $25,000 to $50,000. One relative complained, “They didn’t kill nobody, you know… 50k is a lot.”

But it might not be just riding the pine that turned the players to road rage. Some of the benchwarmers may have been burned by the coach’s personal feelings.

A sister of one of the accused claimed, “He told the kids I’m going to make you quit because I don’t like your faces…that’s not right either.”However, the grudge might not be held so tightly, as the coach dropped the charges against the students.

Practice next week should be interesting.
