Speaking of liars, think this news has a few folks on Capitol Hill relieved these days?
At first blush, the BOSTON HERALD’s story of Brian McNamee selling Roger Clemens memorabilia he accrued over the years might seem a little unseemly.

Brian McNamee made a rare public appearance on Thursday, as the former Yankees trainer and Mitchell Report lynch pin gave a brief “motivational speech” - at a health supplement store.

The ASSOCIATED PRESS reports that McNamee spoke to a small group of high school athletes, coached and parents at his friend’s store in Everett, MA. Most of his 12-minute talk was about making mistakes and how to recover:

The House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform has drafted a letter to the Justice Department, asking that Clemens be investigated for possibly committing perjury during his Feb. 13 appearance on Capitol Hill. Read more…
By now you know about Roger Clemens’ most desperate attempt to besmirch the credibility of Brian McNamee.

McNamee claimed in his deposition to federal investigators that Clemens had been at a party thrown by Jose Canseco in 1998. Clemens’ quickly disputed that he had attended the party, and tried to use his denial as a hot poker against the overall veracity of McNamee’s claims against him. Read more…
In what could be a fairly damaging blow to Roger Clemens’ steroid defense, the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS is reporting there is photographic evidence of Clemens at the now-famous Jose Canseco party.

Rep. Henry Waxman of California to the NEW YORK TIMES today on Roger Clemens’ congressional hearing, “I’m sorry we had the hearing. I regret that we had the hearing. And the only reason we had the hearing was because Roger Clemens and his lawyers insisted on it.”

Waxman oversaw the hearing, which he claims “sullied” Clemens and unnecessarily embarrassed Brian McNamee. He also claims that because of the hearing, 90% of the public now doesn’t believe the former pitcher.
To us, the only thing the hearing proved was we were wrong about Clemens’ counsel, Rusty Hardin. Read more…
