More NBA Finals fodder for you: Lamar Odom crying to Kevin Ding of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER about the Boston crowd during the 2008 NBA Finals:

(But Lakers fans … no worries!)
“They gave it to my kids last time in Boston,” Odom said, refraining from repeating what was said to his children.
Odom said that has him wondering whether it’ll be safe for his wife, reality-show personality Khloe Kardashian, to attend Games 3, 4 and perhaps 5 of the 2010 NBA Finals in Boston.

The day after the Lakers got a-bombed in Boston in Game 6 of the 2008 NBA Finals, I was driving through the Florida panhandle on my way home to Los Angeles. Thankfully, there were no Boston Celtics fans stationed that day along Interstate 10 at Mobile Bay.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo reports that immediately subsequent to the Lakers getting their NBA Title hopes asploded by the C’s that season, “chaos quickly broke out around the Lakers.”
Boston Celtics fans had filled the streets to celebrate the franchise’s 17th championship, not far from a statue of longtime patriarch Red Auerbach smoking a victory cigar.

In 2004, Boston sports fans enjoyed the greatest playoff comeback in sports history, as the Red Sox overcame a 3-0 ALCS deficit to defeat the Yankees en route to their first World Series Championship since 1918.

It was hard not to root for the Sox back then. But since 2004, knowing Boston sports fans as I do, it’s been hard not to root against Boston and its insufferable, hipster-strewn “nation” of followers.
While I didn’t care enough earlier this month to actively root against the Boston Bruins as they somehow blew a 3-0 playoff series lead after frittering away a 3-0 Game 7 advantage against Philly, I must admit recent developments in the Orlando-Celtics NBA Eastern Conference Finals have me intrigued.
Consider these comparisons between the 2004 Yankees-Red Sox ALCS and the 2010 series between the Magic and Celtics.

Jason Williams gives us an unfiltered glimpse into West Virginia trailer park life with an oft-unintelligible, expletive-filled rant at reporters after the Magic were slammed by Boston Saturday night in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final:

Can you guys please move out of my locker I asked you nicely. You don’t want me to get mean I’m sure. Can you guys please back the f— up. Thank you. F—. I asked you three times. What the f— is wrong with y’all man? F—. Don’t get smart man. Don’t get smart buzz, yeah I’m telling you don’t get smart buzz. (Unintelligble exchange with reporter.) … Step the f— back ………….. f—.
“Don’t get smart, Buzz”? Nice of him to throw in the West Virginia state motto while he was at it. Read more…

WESH-TV in Orlando reports that the stepfather of Boston Celtics guard Marquis Daniels was arrested and then tasered by local police while attending the Celtics-Magic Eastern Conference Finals game of the NBA playoffs Tuesday night.

The police report of the incident identified Willie Lorenzo Buie, the stepfather of the 28-year-old Daniels, as being charged with “resisting arrest with violence“.
ORLANDO SENTINEL NBA reporter Tania Ganguli noted today that the Celtics have confirmed Buie as Daniels’ stepfather and that the incident took place.
In the official arrest account, Orlando police officers responded to a “disturbance” in a seating area behind one of the baskets inside Orlando’s Amway Arena at 10:55 p.m. When officers attempted to remove Buie from his seat, he allegedly said, “I’m not going, (expletive) you.”
Beyond the charge against Buie, no other details in the police report suggest what caused the disturbance that led to Buie’s arrest. Though the report does give specifics about the alleged, repeated attempts made by police to subdue Buie, which led to him being tasered. Read more…

The “digital branding agency” for Paul Pierce claims this morning that four recent Tweets taunting the Orlando Magic from Pierce’s verified Twitter account did not come from the Celtics player.

Athlete Interactive, which coordinates Pierce’s Twitter account, Tweeted Wednesday:
Tweets on May 18, 2010 from @paulpierce34 are not Paul Pierce. The account was hacked. Twitter has been notified and is investigating.
Orlando-based WFTV producer Tara Manis added on Twitter, “I saw him talking to other reporters when these were sent… no cell in hand.”

Pierce also addressed the matter himself on his Twitter account Wednesday morning, Tweeting, “Hacked in game and post game while on podium. Disregard chatter.”
After the Celtics defeated the Magic in Orlando to take a 2-0 lead in the playoff series, Dwight Howard was asked by a reporter about an alleged Pierce Tweet that said, “Anyone have a BROOM?” Read more…

The highlight of the NBA playoffs happened last night in Cleveland during the Celtics-Cavaliers game.

(Paging Dr. Drew … Dr. Drew please report to Row 1, Seat 1 … )
From his seat behind the Cavaliers basket during the third quarter, Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge threw a towel in the air during a free throw attempt by Cleveland player J.J. Hickson in an apparent attempt to distract the shooter.
Before throwing the towel, Ainge also could be seen in the video standing up during another of Hickson’s free throws and turning around to talk to fans between shots.
The general manager’s behavior did not go unnoticed by Cavaliers Coach Mike Brown. Read more…

Michael Ferraresi of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC reports the wife of Boston Celtic Eddie House recently accused the grandfather of Detroit Tigers catcher Gerald Laird of “touching her inappropriately” during an altercation at a Suns game at U.S. Airways Arena.

(Charlsie House, wife of Boston Celtic Eddie House)
“Police listed Charlsie House - wife of Celtics forward Eddie House, a former star with the Suns and ASU - as an investigative lead in the case, according to the report.
“Authorities said House quickly left the arena’s Verve Energy Lounge after accusing the Lairds’ 70-year-old grandfather, who was never cited, of touching her inappropriately. … (House) claimed the players’ grandfather groped her at the bar.”
The entire incident centered on a “brawl” involving Laird and his brother - New York Yankees prospect Brandon Laird - on December 30. The Lairds’ uncle, Gregory Scott Collins, 51, was also arrested “on suspicion of assault.”
Gerald Laird was arrested for misdemeanor assault for allegedly striking a security guard in the head from behind during the brawl. Brandon Laird, 22, allegedly shouted derogatory remarks toward House and other women at the lounge before taking a swing at one of the women. He was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
