If you thought America was getting used to looking at Danica Patrick, well, you’re wrong. It turns out that not only does the good ol’ U.S.A. find searching for Danica a completely insatiable appetite, it’s also just as captivated with the most popular league in the sport she calls her own.
(Hey, what’s with the suit? Does she drive cars or something?)
At least those are the findings from AOL’s annual report of year-end hot searches for 2008. In fact, the report claims that Danica-mania made Ms. Patrick the most searched athlete in the world. In the meantime, NASCAR beat out another surprising contender, WWE, and the Olympics to be the most searched sports of all. That’s right, rubbin’ n’ racin’ was officially more popular online than a truly historic Olympics.

We’re happy with all the success Claudia Porras achieved with the UTEP women’s basketball team this season - a Conference USA regular season championship, an undefeated conference slate, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
But what makes us more proud is bouncing up some new photos of Claudia, further presenting Porras as the model player she still is. More magical pics of the Bolivian b-ball bikini beauty after the jump.

Claudia Porras is a model basketball player - in more ways than one.
The EL PASO TIMES has the story on Porras, UTEP senior and member of the Bolivian women’s national team. Although she’s been a solid bench player for the 19th-ranked Miners, it’s Claudia’s previous off-court endeavors that’s gotten attention.

Apparently Tim Tebow has been a hot topic among presidential hopefuls. The FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM reports how the Heisman-winning Florida Gators QB has been asked by candidates to toss some of his time on their campaign trails.

MINOR LEAGUE NEWS recently scoured the minors, looking for the next big thing. A baseball prospect will a mighty swing? A hoopster with great court skills?
No - a hometown honey who can shake their money makers to major delight.
MLN hopped on the bus and traveled to many Civic Centers, Veterans Parks and Memorial Arenas. At the end of their tour, they called up their selections of the hottest cheerleaders root, root, rooting for the home team.

ON MILWAUKEE feels a slight chill, as Sunday’s Packers-Giants game was the third coldest in NFL history.
Temperature at game time was 1 degree below zero - and that doesn’t even include the wind chill, which drags down the mercury to around 20 below. Medical staff at Lambeau Field say they treated about a dozen people for frostbite and one unlucky soul for hypothermia.
The only colder games on record were the famous 1967 Ice Bowl between these same Packers and the Cowboys, and a 1992 playoff tilt between San Diego and Cincinnati - back when Hell temporarily froze over because the Bengals were actually good.
Yet such icy conditions didn’t deter some folks at the Frozen Tundra to show some skin.

We discovered something rather interesting today. Fox TV’s “Best Damn Sports Show” is still airing original episodes. Seriously, we had no idea until we received a press release this week touting Amanda Beard as a new, permanent “correspondent” for the show.
Not surprisingly, GoDaddy.com is all over her appearances for the FSN production, which we quit watching when they got rid of that cool Rolling Rock basement bar-looking set.
Safe to say having Beard on the show will be an improvement on the current “Best Damn” output (so long as she’s breathing). Especially based on what we hear about her role on the show (thankfully, there’s no serious reportage).

TIM TEBOW COMPLETION PCT. JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER: Many accuse Tim Tebow of being a system quarterback. We’re not sure about that, but whatever he’s doing, it’s working - at least at the apartment complex pool:
