Ask a Sports Blog - food eating help

Dear Sports Blog,

I’m an athlete in a sporting league, with the difference being instead of running and trying to put a moderately-sized ball into a goal of some type, I just eat stuff. It’s kind of weird, I know, but it’s the talent I have. And I’ve been good at it for a while, but recently someone has bested me in the contest I’m known for winning. And it happens to be happening again soon on an upcoming American holiday. I don’t want to disgrace my home country yet again. How can I get the competitive edge to eat more than the other guy?

Ask A sports Blog - How to pick how to pick first pick

Dear Sports Blog,

Tonight my basketball team will be selecting amateur basketball players in an orderly fashion to our franchise. We have the first pick in the league! I’m excited. But I’m also apprehensive. See, I’m afraid we’ll pick wrong. There are two great options, but I feel like a I have a 50-50 chance of selecting the right player or dooming our basketball team to further failures. Given this, what mode of luck determination do you think we should use in using the first overall pick? I’m leaning toward tarot cards.

Sincerely,

Ask A Sports Blog: Conflicted Feelings About DHs

Ask A sports Blog - DH dilemma

Dear Sports Blog

I am the commissioner for a very successful baseball league. One half of the league requires the pitcher to bat, while the other half is allowed to have a designated hitter. Well, recently, one of the more prominent baseball teams, one which uses a DH, had their team president speak out about how both leagues should have the same rules, specifically, the DH. While I can’t help but wonder if he’s saying this just because his pitcher got injured while having to run the bases in a game against the other league, he does bring up a point that has kept me up for a couple nights. Should I standardize the rules of our league?

Sincerely,

Ask a Sports Blog - A referee needs leads

Dear Sports Blog,

I was, at one point, an official for a major basketball league. Now I’m in jail! But I really don’t want to be here anymore, so I’m trying to come up with instances of when my former sports league wanted a certain team to win. But any good conspiracy theory works, if it remotely holds together. I’ve already testified about a couple of instances, which have thankfully found its way to the media, but I need more. Can you think of any good ideas?

Yours,

Ask a Sports Blog - Basketball GM with roster crisis

Dear Sports Blog,

I always read your posts, but I am always reluctant to comment or ask a question. But I am in a real situation right now. I run a professional basketball team in the state of Michigan that was championship-caliber a couple years ago. Today our team is sort of good, but not good enough to win another championship. Everyone’s been asking me if I’m going to trade any of my superstar players, and I said I did, but now I’m not sure. What do I need to do to win a championship?

Sincerely,

Ask A Sports Blog - Who is that golfer guy?

Dear Sports Blog,

I’m a professional golfer who has won several major championships. But this year, it hasn’t been easy for me. I had surgery on one of my knees — for the sake of anonymity, I’d rather not say — and one of the biggest tournaments of the year is coming up! There’s a lesser tournament this week, but I’m not sure if I should participate in it. I don’t think I’m ready. But a lot of writers are saying I should. Help!

Sincerely,
