Correction: PGA Tour party animal Anthony Kim was in Vegas this week to play the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Blaming a thumb injury, the golfer withdrew from the tournament hours after Norm Clarke of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL reported of Kim’s gambling habit on Wednesday:
His salty language and screaming was so bad that Kim, 25, was asked to tone it down Monday by Bellagio management.
“He is one loose cannon,” said a dealer, who said Kim may have set a personal record for F-bombs while playing high-stakes craps over the weekend.
Turns out Kim, who had plans to play this week despite thumb surgery earlier this year, wasn’t satisfied with merely bellowing at the Bellagio. So he hit the back nine at The Palms early Wednesday morning - a few hours before his scheduled tee time.

Anthony Kim says that sightings of him coming home at 4 a.m. the morning of an important tournament round are like those of Bigfoot and an important Notre Dame football victory: total mythology. But the fact remains that several people say that they witnessed Kim getting back to the team hotel “sideways” at 4 in the morning on Sunday, less than five hours before his tee time for the final day of the President’s Cup.
This is the same Kim that, in a June, 2008 article in GOLF.COM, said he had spent five months getting sober and “cleaning up his act” so as to reach his full potential on the Tour. Well, to paraphrase Lincoln in his famous quote about General U.S. Grant, if Kim is drinking, they should have provided some of that booze to the rest of the U.S. team. Read more…
There’s nothing quite like the Ryder Cup, where high-profile professional golfers put their individual accomplishments aside for a weekend and work as an actual team. And America was made proud today as our boys in red, white, and blue took home the trophy from those pretentious cappuccino-sipping Europeans.
(”Give me back my cup!”)
The final day began with the U.S. team up 9-7 on the Europeans. The lead quickly rose when rookie Anthony Kim defeated Europe’s Sergio Garcia, who suffered his worst loss in Ryder Cup history. Following up on that, Kenny Perry, Boo Weekly and J.B. Holmes all won their matches before Jim Furyk finally clinched the cup with a victory over Miguel Angel Jimenez, giving the Americans the necessary 14.5 points.
Even more shocking was that the team won without Tiger Woods, which is kind of like the Patriots winning the Super Bowl after losing Tom Brady.
