In what I have to assume is a terrible attempt at sarcasm, Yankees catcher Jorge Posada has gone on the record saying that despite the hearings last week where Roger Clemens revealed he didn’t know what a vegan was, he completely believes that Clemens didn’t take HGH or steroids.

Posada told the DAILY NEWS, “I support him; he said he never took it and I’m behind him 100%.” Wow. It’s almost as if Posada didn’t even watch the hearings. Oh, that’s right. He didn’t. Read more…
The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS is touting an exclusive that Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte got his shipments of human growth hormone from his father Tom.

The statement made its way to the paper and was then given to the House committee grilling both Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee this morning.

Roger Clemens told Andy Pettitte he took HGH - that’s according to a sworn affidavit acquired by the ASSOCIATED PRESS on Tuesday.

Details of Pettitte’s affidavit came out a day before Clemens was to testify in front of Congress about his alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs. Pettitte gave the affidavit so he wouldn’t have to appear in person at Wednesday’s hearings. Read more…

Chuck Knoblauch finally spoke out about being mentioned in the Mitchell Report. But it appears he doesn’t have much to say.

The NEW YORK TIMES gets the first public reactions from the ex-Yankee about former trainer Brian McNamee supplying him with HGH. And it turns out he more or less declined comment about the issue:
“I have nothing to defend. I have nothing to hide at the same time.”
Knoblauch is requested to appear at a congressional hearing next month, along with former teammates Roger Clemens & Andy Pettitte. But Chuck claims he hasn’t been contacted by Capitol Hill:

Roger Clemens won’t have to head off for Capitol Hill just yet.

NEW YORK NEWSDAY reports that a congressional hearing scheduled for January 16th has been postponed until next month.
Those scheduled to testify - Clemens, Brian McNamee, Andy Pettitte, Chuck Knoblauch and Kirk Radomski - are now asked to show up on February 13th. The Oversight & Government Reform Committee says the date was moved to occur after Radomski’s sentencing for steroid dealing.
That leaves the Rocket’s legal team a whole extra month to dig up more dirt on his ex-trainer.

The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports today that private investigators hired by Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte interviewed Brian McNamee, on tape, the day before the Mitchell Report came out. Of course, we want to hear what’s on that tape, but what about Clemens telling Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes that he didn’t know that he was going to be implicated in the Mitchell Report?:

Mike Wallace (5:40): “Did you know ahead of time what was going to be in George Mitchell’s report?”
Clemens (5:44): “I did not.”
From that, it looks like we’ve uncovered the first crack in Clemens’ denials about steroids.

REPORT: TRAINER CLAIMS CLEMENS IN MITCHELL REPORT: ESPN reports this morning that a “former New York Yankee strength trainer says information he supplied to the George Mitchell investigation regarding supplying Roger Clemens with steroids is included in the Mitchell report scheduled to be released later today.
“Brian McNamee, who worked for the Yankees and as a personal trainer for Clemens and Yankee teammates Andy Pettitte, also told investigators that on at least one occasion, Clemens was in possession of steroids from another supplier, the source said.“The source said McNamee told investigators he supplied Clemens with steroids while Clemens was witih the Yankees, and prior to Clemens joining the team.”
McNamee is also the trainer for Pettitte but doesn’t throw him under the bus. Rog must not be a very good tipper.
