You guys aren’t gonna believe this, so you better sit down. Are you sitting down?

Yeah, well, here goes: O.J. Mayo might have received gifts and cash during his one year of playing basketball at Southern Cal. In other words, O.J. Mayo played one year of basketball at USC. Read more…
USC Trojans head coach Pete Carroll and running backs coach Todd McNair will “most likely” be called as witnesses in the ongoing Reggie Bush civil suit.

The suit is being brought about by a would-be agent who claimed to have given the former USC running back $300,000 in cash and gifts. No word on whether those gifts included a white Ford Bronco or poorly-fitting gloves. Read more…
We assume you’ve been spending your day reading about all manner of NFL draft selections and their sordid pasts.

But we have some fun stuff on former USC offensive lineman Sam Baker, the first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons, we know you haven’t read: While at USC, he got himself some parking tickets. Lots and lots and LOTS of parking tickets. And tows. And boots (actually, that sounds a lot like us during our days at the University of Georgia).

Trojans fans hoping against hope for their star player to stay can stop. In college basketball’s most shocking development since Tyler Hansbrough was named Player of the Year, O.J. Mayo is declaring for the NBA Draft.

(They’ll always have their memories - of being bounced by K-State.)
The LOS ANGELES TIMES reports that the USC freshman is one-and-done with his college career. But that doesn’t mean he’s completely abandoning his educational pursuits:

Few things are more enjoyable than someone in the public eye beginning a statement with “I don’t want to sound like a jerk, but…”

When that happens, we can only hope that (a) that person will sound like a jerk, and (b) we can enjoy a rare moment of candor that’s becoming all too rare in this sports world of sound bytes and coachspeak. Standout USC guard O.J. Mayo said after a big win yesterday against Stanford that “so far” he is planning on sticking around for a sophomore season instead of jumping to the NBA. He also very much enjoys the ladies of Southern California so far (that’s just my guess).

We had a great win here against Stanford and we’re trying to get ready for the Pac-10 Tournament.’” Read more…
