Aussie Outlet: Tiger’s ‘Shock Return’ On Feb. 15

Mark Hayes of the MELBOURNE HERALD-SUN has a predictive story today about the return to golf by Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods is poised to make a shock return to competitive golf in a fortnight at the Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona.

Only a fortnight after allegedly checking into a sex addiction clinic in Mississippi, the world No. 1 is set to stun the world by returning to the Dove Mountain course where he made his comeback from knee surgery last year.

There are strengthening whispers that it will be in the $9.54 million World Golf Championship event, won last year by Melbourne’s Geoff Ogilvy and one of the most prestigious titles outside the major championships.

You just knew there had to be an Aussie angle in there somewhere!

Hayes also reports: “as a matchplay event, it’s more for the purists than perhaps a ‘regular’ tour event would be, diminishing his chances of being harassed.

Tiger Woods Is Back And “Much Better Than Ever”

I’ve never really been that much of a fan of the game of golf. I don’t really play too much, which is best for everybody, and the only time I generally watch it on television is during a major tournament like the Masters or U.S. Open. Of course, ever since Tiger Woods left the tour to have surgery on his knee, I haven’t watched at all.

I’m probably not the only person who has responded this way, either. Tiger is a huge draw for casual golf fans worldwide, and there’s no doubt the PGA has missed his presence on the tour when it comes to attendance at tournaments and sponsorship money. Which is why they’ll no doubt be happy to hear that Tiger’s knee is just about healed and he’s getting ready to return pretty soon.
