The ORLANDO SENTINEL reports today that, “Tiger Woods was drinking before he wrecked his SUV two weeks ago, a witness told a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.”

That witness was the same person who pulled Woods from his damaged truck, a document released this afternoon states. Elin Nordegren Woods, Tiger Woods’ wife, told Windermere police that she dragged the injured golfer from his Cadillac Escalade about 2:25 a.m. Nov. 27 with the help of a golf club.

As the “witness” was the person who dragged Woods out of the Escalade, Woods’ wife was probably the person who told police he had been drinking.

More importantly, it was revealed that attending FHP officer Joshua Evans was denied a request to have Woods take a blood test after the accident.

Assistant State Attorney Steve Foster, who heads the state attorney’s intake division, blocked the request. Read more…

The ORLANDO SENTINEL reports two attorneys for the neighbors of Tiger Woods who called 911 after the golfer’s car accident said today that Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren was trying to help the golfer, not injure him.

“He was laying in the road. Mrs. Woods was beside him trying to help him,” Sharp said. “He couldn’t get up. Whether he was conscious, unconscious, I don’t know. She (Nordegren) was trying to help him. She wasn’t trying to do further damage.”

While Woods was completely out of it, and Nordegren later furnished attending EMTs with two prescription pill bottles, the the Adames family “saw no indication that Woods and wife Elin Nordegren were fighting or that drugs or alcohol was involved.” Read more…

The Florida Highway Patrol says it is not seeking a search warrant in the Tiger Woods car crash case. This statement contradicts what celebrity Web site TMZ earlier reported. The Web site claims authorities in Florida are trying to obtain a search warrant to enable them to seize medical records from the hospital that treated Tiger Woods, TMZ reported.

TMZ.com reports early Monday morning that the Florida Highway patrol is seeking the medical records of Tiger Woods from the hospital where he received treatment immediately after his Thursday night crash. The FHP reportedly wants to determine if Woods’ injuries are consistent with a car accident. If they are not, TMZ reports Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren could potentially be charged with domestic abuse.

TMZ reports that Nordegren’s supposed contradictory statement about a golf cart she used that night during the incident could provide the evidence the FHP needs to obtain a warrant. The website notes that in its crash scene photos, there’s no golf cart present: “TMZ has reviewed 21 photos from the scene — no sign of any golf cart.”But in a WFTV.com crash scene photo (above), there is a golf cart.TMZ called the lack of a golf cart at the scene, “One big piece of evidence showing probable cause” and cited the evidence first in what “sources” told the website shows probable cause - which would be needed to obtain a search warrant.TMZ only cites “sources” in the warrant-golf cart story. In the past, TMZ has cited “law enforcement sources”.It remains to be seen if TMZ’s report about the FHP requesting a search warrant is true. Tiger Woods exercised his power as a celebrity Sunday by embarrassing the Florida Highway Patrol for the third straight day - in refusing an interview request. Woods’ agent now says his client is refusing to meet with the authorities at all.

There’s a possibility that the FHP will indeed back off and issue Woods some sort of traffic citation, even if it suspects a domestic disturbance between Woods and wife Elin Nordegren precipitated the “accident”. But while the public may soon forget that debacle thanks to Woods’ non-cooperation, the story of his alleged affair is just getting started.

The woman accused of a tryst with Woods, Rachel Uchitel, is claiming the National Enquirer report is false and has indicated she may sue the mag for defamation. Today she flew to Los Angeles to meet with high profile attorney Gloria Allred. If Uchitel formally enlists the services of Allred, you can bet she’ll soon turn up on Larry King and every other prominent electronic media outlet.

Though Uchitel is meeting with Allred under the pretense of denying the Enquirer’s charges, the fact that she’ll be all over the media indefinitely will keep the alleged affair in the public eye, further damaging Woods’ credibility. CNBC’s Darren Rovell received an email from Tiger Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg today indicating that Woods does not plan to initiate talks with the police at all.

“We have been informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that further discussion with them is both voluntary and optional,” Mark Steinberg, senior vice president and global managing director of golf for IMG, told CNBC.

“Although Tiger realizes that there is a great deal of public curiosity, it has been conveyed to FHP that he simply has nothing more to add and wishes to protect the privacy of his family.”

TMZ.com reports Tiger Woods has canceled his appointment at 3p ET today with police to discuss his car accident Thursday night.

He released this statement on his official website:

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore.

This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.

This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.

WFTV in Orlando has exclusive photos of Tiger Woods‘ smashed up SUV at the crash scene outside his Isleworth home on Friday:

WFTV’s photos don’t include every angle of the car, but the pics do make you wonder why Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren needed to smash out the back window of the SUV with a golf club to allow him to escape the vehicle.

The ORLANDO SENTINEL reports “Woods’ Escalade received $5,000 to $8,000 worth of damage to the front bumper and grille, according to FHP.” But the FHP did not comment on the supposed smashed-out back window. And why don’t any of these crime scene photos include a shot of the back of the vehicle?

Police reportedly attempted to interview Woods last night, but were told by Nordegren that Woods was sleeping - so they rescheduled an interview for today.

There’s still no word on where the vehicle is and when it will be available for public viewing. Also is the question of the 911 call - which police did confirm exists.

Earlier this week, the National Enquirer reported that Tiger Woods had an extramarital affair with a 34-year-old woman named Rachel Uchitel (photos). Today we got word from the Florida Highway Patrol and the Windermere (FL) City Police that Woods was involved in a car accident that was preceded by what Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor described as a “domestic issue” between Woods and wife Elin Nordegren.

Because the FHP embargoed information about the incident for 12 hours, and didn’t report it until after Woods was out of a local hospital, some media members began to make a connection between the report of the affair and the car accident.
