FHP Spokesman: No Tiger Search Warrant Sought

Fox News reports this morning:

No Search Warrant In Tiger Woods Car Accident

The Florida Highway Patrol says it is not seeking a search warrant in the Tiger Woods car crash case. This statement contradicts what celebrity Web site TMZ earlier reported. The Web site claims authorities in Florida are trying to obtain a search warrant to enable them to seize medical records from the hospital that treated Tiger Woods, TMZ reported.

Florida Highway Patrol Chief of Public Affairs Capt. Mark Welch.: “We don’t need a warrant to get records, that is incorrect.Read more…

Report: Warrant Sought For Tiger’s Med Records

TMZ.com reports early Monday morning that the Florida Highway patrol is seeking the medical records of Tiger Woods from the hospital where he received treatment immediately after his Thursday night crash. The FHP reportedly wants to determine if Woods’ injuries are consistent with a car accident. If they are not, TMZ reports Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren could potentially be charged with domestic abuse.

TMZ Crime Scene Photo Of Tiger Woods Crash - Golf Cart Is Present

(TMZ: No golf court in crash scene photos. WFTV pic reveal golf cart)

TMZ reports that Nordegren’s supposed contradictory statement about a golf cart she used that night during the incident could provide the evidence the FHP needs to obtain a warrant. The website notes that in its crash scene photos, there’s no golf cart present: “TMZ has reviewed 21 photos from the scene — no sign of any golf cart.”But in a WFTV.com crash scene photo (above), there is a golf cart.

TMZ called the lack of a golf cart at the scene, “One big piece of evidence showing probable cause” and cited the evidence first in what “sources” told the website shows probable cause - which would be needed to obtain a search warrant.TMZ only cites “sources” in the warrant-golf cart story. In the past, TMZ has cited “law enforcement sources”.

It remains to be seen if TMZ’s report about the FHP requesting a search warrant is true. If it is, the FHP might want to log onto WFTV.com.

UPDATE (6:51am PT): After my post, TMZ.com has since added the same photo I cited above and inserted this sentence: “TMZ has reviewed 21 photos from the scene — no sign of any golf cart. But we just found another photo from the scene, where you can see a golf cart in the foreground.

There’s one other piece of supposed evidence mentioned by the site that reportedly could show probable cause in obtaining a warrant. Read more…

Report: Tiger’s Wife Elin Changed Story To Police

TMZ reports today:

Tiger Woods‘ wife, Elin Nordegren, changed the story she told the first officer on the scene, according to law enforcement sources.

(Photo: Elin Nordegren this morning - credit TMZ.com)

The story police gave the media about Nordegren “helping” Woods out of the vehicle by smashing out the back window with a golf club? Reportedly completely bogus.

Cop: ‘Domestic Issue’ Preceded Woods’ Accident

TMZ reports this afternoon:

Tiger Woods Elin Nordegren Was Tiger Woods Crash Related At All To Their Relationship?

Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ Tiger Woods‘ early morning accident came right after an argument with his wife, Elin Nordegren.

We’re told Elin told cops about the argument at the scene of the accident and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital where he was treated.

One Florida law enforcement official called it “a domestic issue.”

Elin apparently was able to forgive and forget — according to Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor, Nordegren smashed out the back window of Tiger’s car to help get him out.

So the local police chief has admitted to a domestic dispute between Woods and his wife, but the golf club-to-the-car-window story still stands?
