Multiple sources close to the football programs at Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh have indicated to SbB that acting Penn State head football coach Tom Bradley is the leading candidate for the defensive coordinator position under new Pitt head football coach Paul Chryst.

3 MOS. AFTER 5-YR CONTRACT EXTENSION, NU AD SACKED: WOWT-TV in Omaha reported moments ago that “UNL Athletic Director Steve Pederson has been fired. That word came Monday afternoon in the aftermath of yet another rocky performance and lopsided loss by the NU football team on Saturday.
“University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman announced he asked UNL Athletic Director Steve Pederson to step down from the post he has held since January 2003. Perlman said he believes Pederson is no longer positioned to move the Athletic Department forward.”
Pederson, who just received a 5-year contract extension last July, has long been vilified for selecting Bill Callahan (also the receiver of an ill-advised extension) as head football coach over Bo Pellini, who was an assistant under Frank Solich when Solich was fired by Pederson.
Pellini is now one of the hottest head coach prospects in college football as defensive coordinator at LSU. Look for Coach Bo to get heavy consideration as head football coach if Callahan fails to survice the new AD hire, which is a distinct possibility.
